Soloed and duo'ed with my son, me on an artificer -28, him on a monk -28. Ran the 26-30 Delera's band and CR 28 challenges.
Key drops are pretty erratic. I was seeing a key drop about every 35-45 minutes. My son pulled one roughly every 5 minutes. Waiting 35 minutes is scraping the un-fun mark. Hoping to run it again tomorrow but with a bigger group and see whether it shakes up the drop rate.
They are quests that look like challenges. It feels strange not having to *try* to get 5 or 6 stars. A little randomness in the locations for the star objectives might be appropriate as well as a little running back and forth. Something that makes the distinction between having it handed to you and choosing to obtain it.
The skulls, pumpkins, and party ****ers will be added later. What about the cosmetic pumpkin head, mabarian head spider, and the augments created for mabar? The +5 tomes probably don't fit the direction this event is going, but what about +2 or +3 tomes?
With as much time as it takes to find a key (for some of us), the duration of them should be a bit longer. Too short and it's a let down at any rate. 7-10 minutes wouldn't be too long for a non-grindy event imho.
The difficulty of the mobs in the challenges seems about on par with regular challenges. They need a boost to hp by a decent chunk tho. At least half again as much. Champions and debuffs would be appropriate too. (except instead of a flaming crown, give champions the thunderforged armor glow or the disruptor skeleton pulse thingy 8) )
It was pretty obvious she was going to get the axe, but I'm going to miss the spectral dragon. I'll start saying it now: Please make a raid out of the Mabar event. Not just the spectral raid, the whole thing as it was intended to be experienced. Delera's, the hunting around to unlock the chamber, the set up right before the spectral first popped in, all of it. Rehash the whole event in the same way that Chronoscope plays out the 2nd anniversary. Please. This is one piece of DDO history that new players shouldn't have to miss out on. It was too dang cool.
A bit surprised not to see the traditional Mabar loot in the barter UI. The loot that is there is intriguing and worth getting tho. It seems mostly geared for the heroic levels. Are the clickies supposed to be No ML? Sweet if they are.
Would like to see some upgradeable items that I can continue to work on next year. Whether it has tiers like regular cove loot or levels like the eternal flask of rum, it doesn't matter. Part of it is about the customization and personalization. The rest is just a reminder that it's not over and that there is a purpose when the next time comes around.
Running the challenges at level, it took 2 runs of each challenge to "cook" the first item. Seems fair. (...as long as the keys are supposed to drop more frequently than 30 minutes :P ) It was a fun way to spend time.
The Mabar sky effect is still there and mobs still pop up in Delera's. Kobold thanks you!
The challenges look very nice. The mysterious portals do as well. Kudos!
It looks like the worst parts of Mabar have been dealt with effectively. Lag shouldn't be a problem. Also, the event is now fully accessible whether you are solo or grouped, prime time or off-time. +1

The voiceovers only trigger for the first person to enter the challenge. Subsequent players entering don't hear it. The same thing for voiceovers tied to a player walking through an area or killing a mob. They can only be heard by the person that triggered it. Other players don't hear it when the first player sets it off, nor do they hear it when walking through the area that triggers the voicing. (Steps to repeat: run through a challenge by yourself noticing when you hear the DM voice. Group up with someone else and run the same challenge but let them lead the way. Notice the silence.)
Mobs don't appear to scale up with additional party members. Not in the quantity or in the difficulty of the mob. WAI?
Didn't come across any red-names in Delera's. Are they still a part of the wilderness?
