Unable to log into Cannith

I've been having trouble with logging into DDO for a little while now. I'd log in but it took ages and more often than not I'd have a red connection icon, be unable to move and the game would crash shortly after. It sometimes took 3-4 attempts to actually get the game to load up properly. With fixing this in mind I uninstalled the game entirely today and then reinstalled it. It worked a treat right until I got into the character selection screen and it showed me having 13 empty character slots that should all be full. I realised pretty quickly though that in my haste to get back into the game I'd logged into Argonesson instead of Cannith. Silly me.

So I exited the game, booted it up again and selected Cannith and instead of connecting me to it I get an Explorer window open asking me where the executable file is. I select it and then this pops up:



I want to get back into the game and play on Cannith like usual, can someone help me out please cos I have no idea what this means, its total gibberish to me.

In order to load the launcher what file are you running? If it is a shortcut where does it point to? You should be using TurbineLauncher.exe so if your shortcut doesn't then delete it and make a new one from the installation directory and the copy and paste it to your deskstop for easy access.

tried a few things, including your suggestion and none of that worked, so uninstalled the game again, went through HDD and removed any trace of anything Turbine or Akamai related and then reinstalled the game into a different directory and it works, or it least it does unti the character selection screeen comes up which is black in the part where the character would normally be visible. Selecting any character from the sidebar does bring up the "Welcome to..." loading screen but the game just hangs there, nothing happens past that point.

Still that is some progress I suppose. I'll have a nose around in the FAQ's, see if they have any advice on this issue.
