Default Reincarnating to different class, Epic destiny starting place.

When reincarnating to a different class why am i not able to start at that classed epic destiny when reaching level 20? For example I had Arty that reached level 20 and spend awhile in the bard epic destiny. I reincarnated into a barbarian and alas when I reach level 20 im still stuck on that branch of the epic destinies, miles away from the barbarian ed.

That's the way destinies work. You only have a choice your first time, after that you are stuck with whatever you have previously unlocked.

Once you pick your initial ED, you can only access the other EDs by unlocking adjacent EDs thru leveling, inc. after TRs: lvl 3 unlocks EDs in the same Sphere; lvl 4 unlocks EDs in an adjacent Sphere if you're on one of the "spokes." So in your case, you have to lvl FS to 4 (if you haven't already), switch to SD, lvl that to 3, switch to LD, lvl that to 4, and now you can switch to Shiradi; lvl that to 3 and you can switch to either FotW or PA.

If common sense prevailed you would qualify for that destiny by virtue of having heroic barbarian levels, but instead it was arbitrarily designed without much concern about how it might actually play out, and now you are now forced to run off destiny until you level all destinies in between to level 3. Brilliant!

Like most things DDO the progression in Epic Destinies is never really explained to anyone until each one of us has to stumble through it for ourselves a few times and figure it out. The good news is that you will earn a bunch of fates points by the time you get to Fury of The Wild and you can start using twists of fate.

I think you are a bit jaded on this subject...

When Epic Destinies initially graced DDO there was no concept of Epic Reincarnation only the Heroic True Reincarnation. It appeared to me one of the purposes of Epic Destinies was to give players an opportunity to stay at the epic levels and continue to progress even after level 25. Later we got the Karma system after a cry of reminder to Turbine that they said they would not take away our ED progress.

As for the OP, this was simply how they designed the system. I don't believe it was arbitrary, it was built with a purpose. Now it may seem like it would not be the best approach and I agree, it is not the best approach. But it does work for marketing the few items they have in the DDO store that would allow you to bypass EDs.

In your present state you will need 2,520,000 in Martial to advance to primal (3 Levels Shadow and 4 Levels LD) Now while LD is not Rage based, it does have some nice melee abilities that you can twist in that you don't usually have as a barbarian such as haste boost.

Also, going this route through Martial will put you up 2 Twist Points.

Then all you need is 720K more in Champion and you are clear for FoTW with three extra twist points (2 from Martial plus 1 from SC) and a deeper pool of twistable items. At this point you will be Just into Level 25 so you can enjoy leveling up from there.

While it seems like a lot of work you do need to keep in mind that one of the biggest perks of EDs comes from having them all unlocked.

    -------------------
But something to keep in mind for next time, try and TR into a class that can shine for the ED/sphere you are crossing into. This works well for those with TR as a goal as you can better match your heroic abilities with the ED abilities you will be unlocking. But this is more a 20/20 hindsight item.

Good luck in leveling your EDs, believe me you will have them all unlocked in no time if you just plug away at it.

And that means that there's an item called "Key of Destiny" in the store that allows you to claim adjacent destinies without earning levels in your current one. So, if you don't want to gain all those levels in shadowdancer, Legendary Dreadnought and shiradi, you can use a key of destiny to unlock LD, then another to unlock shiradi and another to unlock Fury.
This costs 2985 TP and I don't think anyone would pay that cost instead of farming the destinies, but it's an option that I didn't see listed in this thread.
