Default a question about threat generation

At the moment I am playing a human with dragon mark of sentinel, dire bear druid in unyielding sentinel using tower shields and epic chimera's fang; but instead of being a tank that grabs agro, I end up having to heal/rez the high dps "glass cannons." so what am I missing here? does threat gen work?

Default Glass cannons do a lot of damage

I've played, and played with, glass cannons. The first problem is some players tend to run in and start wailing on everything. I've noticed this is even worse now with Warlocks grabbing aggro before the tank can even get close. Solution: Don't heal them? They will either learn or leave. Win-win for you.

Even if a GC waits for the tank, they can quickly deal out hundreds of points of damage, which can grab aggro right back. For example, Whirlwind monks can hit several hundred points on each enemy in one Whirlwind attack to all opponents around them. If that doesn't grab aggro, I don't know what will.

Yes it works, but there are a few problems with it.

As a bear form druid in sentinel you are probably doing about 80 times less damage than a barbarian in dreadnaught (for example), so you would need about 8000% threat to break even.

Mobs usually agro on the first player they see, so if a monk or barbarian or swashbuckler runs past you, and they will since they all move faster, the mobs will go after them. You can pull agro away after a few seconds of you building hate, but by then the mob is already dead.

ditto mechanics, rangers, casters, warlocks shooting the mob before you walk up to it, or anyone with an aura of menace or in crusader with aura of purification turned on.

and you can lose agro if anyone blufs the mob, or procs deception or improved deception.

Really, it only works if everyone in the party let's it work.

    run in divine crusader.
aura helps with grabbing initial aggro
plop consecration each fight - helps healing glass cannons
