    Default Alchemist class!

Alchemist seems like a viable class, that's diverse in its own right. Mixing magic with martial abilities, an alchemist can roll quite well as a self sufficient solo playable class, that does quite well in groups as well.
There are 3 ways to capitalize on an alchemist's abilities.
-They can drink a mutagen, and enhance their physical ability scores.
-They can profess in bombs, gaining new effects as they progress, to demolish their enemies.
-They can focus on creating potions/elixirs to assist teammates, and "cast" their odd drinkable spells.

Rather than using spell points, they be capable of creating a number of potions/extracts (per rest) before, or even during quests (once they've extinguished their uses they will have to rest to regain uses.) Obviously this will take time, and they wouldn't be able to do this while in combat/being attacked.

Edit: One big difference between these guys, and other casters is that rather than using spell points, they have an allotment of extracts, bombs, and mutagen uses per rest. This is what defines them as a scientist that uses magical ingredients, rather than a caster that uses spell components. Although it's more expensive, a role based on creating things on the fly would be fun in my opinion.

I don't have a lot of info to throw down for this, but if you like the idea feel free to add any suggestions below.

    Thanks for reading :3

Sounds like it would be pretty expensive, considering that basically everything it does would presumably need ingredients/components, which would need to be repurchased perodically if not frequently.

Is this not a pathfinder class?

I'd rather they just fixed* bear druid for Pure 20 play, because DDO already has one mad scientist: the Artificer. That does not mean I dont' like the sound of a "bio-ficer" very much, I do. I just dont' think its a great fit for DDO background.

EDIT: it might make an excellent ED for Primal or additional enhancement tree for Artificer and Druid though.

Interesting idea...I was actually hoping that someday if they ever wanted to make fleshy, Archmage wizards more competitive with Pale Masters and Warforged, that they would be part alchemist, with the ability to craft good healing pots for themselves.

Seems fairly similar to arti - personally I'd prefer something that is more special.

The thing is that most of the enhancement tree's don't really cover a lot of what a true alchemist can be, they just barely scratch the surface. I'm suggesting a class that begins with the traits of an alchemist, and covers their specialties with the enhancements (ie Bomber tree - offers more variations of elemental explosives, maybe utility style bombs. Mutagen tree - Offers different/more abilities usable while mutagen is active. Potion brewer tree - Gives players the ability to actually create potions, and improves effects/abilities with extracts, and potions)

This is inspired by PF, but I think with it's own ddo flare it could be pretty cool :3

The price of not requiring spell points :3

Y'know I see your points XP Arti seems to fit the description. I guess I should be pushing for an alchemist enhancement tree.

A buffing/healing and perhaps even debuffing/aoe tree, with focus on thrown potions/bombs, would not be a bad thing for a third arti tree. I could get behind that.

/interesting idea for an Epic Destiny

I think I hammer together a rough outline of one at one time.
Forget what it had in it?

    Was Artificier friendly.
