Default Elven Pure Rogue Mechanic / Dreadnaught Eviscerator

So I recently came back to the game and tooled around with half a dozen or so builds before I settled on this one for EE and endgame content. I just recently finished capping the first life and its extremely effective this far. I don't post builds here often so I apologize if my format is off. The basic principle is an extremely high dps archer.

    Level 20 Elven Rogue

This is a dex to damage build that achieves 15-20 x 4 crits with a 19-20 base crit bow (from level 18 mechanic, arcane archer morphic arrows and pulverizer from dreadnaught) and can bypass up to 70% fort with feats, twists and gear (25% precision, 10% oppurtunist, 15% grim precision twist, 20% upgraded black dragon scale). It also boasts a 40 meter point blank shot and sneak attack distance which is in range for 99% of content that you're shooting at.

Manyshot and haste boosts make it pretty easy to maintain a permanent blitz between shrines. I've included a screenshot of some of the basics.

    Essential gear consists of:

Bow- Pinion - probably hands down the best bow for this build.
    Trinket - Shimmering Arrowhead
Armor - Flawless Black Dragon Scale (or some other armor piercing item)
    Other gear is more variable

For stats you want 20 Dex and the rest in con and int, level ups in dex.

    Feats:

    1 Point Blank Shot
    3 Rapid Shot
    6 Precision
    9 Manyshot
    10 Oppurtunist
    12 Improved Crit Ranged
    13 Improved Evasion
    15 Precise Shot
    16 Defensive Roll
    18 Improved Precise Shot
    19 Slippery Mind
    21 Overwhelming Crit
    24 Combat Archery
    26 Toughness
    27 Improved Sneak Attacks
    28 Double Shot

It's still a work in progress but the framework is 100% solid and delivers what is probably some of the highest burst dps in the game.

So morphic arrows also activates pulverizer?
Wouldn't your crits be also x6 on a 19-20 due to LD and OC?
Any way to work in force imbues?
What is your doubleshot at cap?
Is your attack speed capped to give up
    blinding speed?

seems like a clever framework in which you could also occasionally use cormyrian throwing weapons for flavor.

    Morphic does indeed activate pulverizer
Yes, Crits are x6 on 19-20 with dreadnaught and overwhelming crit
I think the ap's are just a little too tight for force imbues but its not a terrible loss. Might be tweakable. (I currently have magical training from energy of the wild 3 for endless cocoons but gear adjustments might ease that up)
Double shot is currently at 25% at cap, some gear and a couple tr's would put it in the low 40s i think
With the 20% alacrity from pinion I opted out of blinding speed but it could easily trade from improved sneaks on another build.

    Thx.
You can get force arrows maxed AND magical training and morphic with only 12 AP in the tree if I calculate correctly. That is only 2 ap more which I am sure could be fished from somewhere. You do not need the perma arrows due to fletching and even the ease of scrolling a stack of 500 flame arrows.
Force arrows do 1d6 but more importantly 3d10 on crits which on this build would be on the 15-20. Hence
19 attacks for 3.5 and 6 crits for another 16.5 = a little over 8 damage/arrow more, I think, and force damage seems rarely resisted.

Good call, I dropped two points from umd in mechanic and put 12 into AA for force. I've been using a quivering quiver to load up on arrows and have a back up that i never use. Conjure is out

Nice build with clever synergies. And one more build that is better with bows than pure ranger I guess.

The problem with taking Blinding Speed is you have to drop either Imp Sneak Atk (+10.5 SA dmg per hit scaled w/Ranged Power) or Combat Archery (+4.5 critable dmg per hit); isn't worth the DPS loss just to spare yourself the hassle of equipping a Speed or Ranged Alacrity item.

Yes, assuming it is capped then--blinding speed gives 22% ranged alacrity. But I think it should be capped with Pinion.s alacrity boost

I think they fixed the ranged alacrity offset from haste a while back. I'm pretty sure its a flat 15% now, either way I agree that its really more a matter of finding a decent alacrity item over sacrificing the 3d6 damage from improved sneak attacks.

I brought this up on Jakeleela's thrower build thread and he showed that blinding speed still gives the higher alacrity of 22 ranged.

Swap the dragon armor for the shadow scale light armor with shadow killer for 2d6 extra sneak damage, then swap whatever you're using for the cloak for hide of the fallen. If you can get into tod often enough you can farm for the gilvaenor's AA set for another 10% stacking alacrity. The skirmisher's bracers are 8% double shot as well and they're a guaranteed end reward from one of the stormhorns quests. Can't remember which one.

Obviously we could get into a whole long discussion about best in slot gear.

Just curious, why not 31 points in mechanic for level 18 core and tier 5 in arcane Archer for slaying arrows. Stop in elf race at 14 (no dex to damage). Does mechanical reloader work with bows??

At least may be something to consider after ranger overhaul.

I've been thinking about how to revise this build concept post-U28. OP hasn't been on the forums for a couple of months, so I had to take a stab at it on my own. Core concept is the same - DEX-based pure elf rogue archer - but focused on AA instead of Mechanic.

Main problem is AP shortage: I ended up wanting to spend at least 20 APs elf (AA / Grace / Skill) and 41 APs AA (capstone), which left only 19 APs for the rogue PrEs; not enough to take Killer, which I wanted for the extra Doubleshot. So I wound up spreading leftover APs around.

It's newbie-friendly in the sense of requiring no tomes; but it would be quite challenging to solo, I would expect. Of course, for some players, that's a feature, not a bug.

This part of the build is straight-forward enough and basically identical to OP's. I maxed Tumble for LOLZ, but Bluff would make more sense.

Enhancements will vary depending on your character level. Since you can't access the last two racial AA cores until epic levels (22 & 25), you'll have a couple extra APs you can spend elsewhere. But this is more-or-less your lvl 25+ AP config:
    Code:
    Enhancements (80 AP)

    Elf (21 AP)

    • Elven Accuracy
      1. Keen Senses II, Aerenal Weapon Training
      2. Nothing Is Hidden II, Aerenal Weapon Training, Arcanum I
      3. Aerenal Weapon Training, Arcane Archer
      4. Aerenal Grace, Aerenal Weapon Training, Skill
    Elf-Arcane Archer (41 AP)
    • Arcane Archer, Morphic Arrows, Metalline Arrows, Aligned Arrows, Shadow Arrows, Mystical Archer
      1. Conjure Arrows, Energy of the Wild III, Flaming Arrows
      2. Force Arrows III, Inferno Shot III, Elemental Damage
      3. Terror Arrows, Soul Magic, Elemental Damage
      4. Paralyzing Arrows, Elemental Damage
      5. Moonbow, Arrow of Slaying, Elemental Damage, Runebow
    Assassin (14 AP)
    • Knife in the Darkness, Dagger in the Back, Assassin's Trick
      1. Sneak Attack Training, Stealthy II
      2. Sneak Attack Training, Damage Boost III
      3. Sneak Attack Training
    Thief-Acrobat (3 AP)
    • Staff Control
      1. Fast Movement
    Mechanic (1 AP)
    • Arbalester
Total base sneak atk bonus: 10d6 rog lvls + 3d6 Imp Sneak Atk feat + 3d6 Assassin enhs = 16d6. I should maybe invest more in elf cores for the PBS range increase, but that's easy enough to tweak. 35% Fort bypass (Precision + Opportunist) which goes up to 50% if you have Grim Precision as well. EDIT: Assassin's Trick is another 25% bypass.

Not bothering to list EDs & Twists because, well, it's about what you'd expect: FotW, Dreadnought, Crusader, Shadowdancer, or Shiradi - take your pick.

Enhancements will vary depending on your character level. Since you can't access the last two racial AA cores until epic levels (22 & 25), you'll have a couple extra APs you can spend elsewhere. But this is more-or-less your lvl 25+ AP config:
    Code:
    Enhancements (80 AP)

    Elf (21 AP)

    • Elven Accuracy
      1. Keen Senses II, Aerenal Weapon Training
      2. Nothing Is Hidden II, Aerenal Weapon Training, Arcanum I
      3. Aerenal Weapon Training, Arcane Archer
      4. Aerenal Grace, Aerenal Weapon Training, Skill
    Elf-Arcane Archer (41 AP)
    • Arcane Archer, Morphic Arrows, Metalline Arrows, Aligned Arrows, Shadow Arrows, Mystical Archer
      1. Conjure Arrows, Energy of the Wild III, Flaming Arrows
      2. Force Arrows III, Inferno Shot III, Elemental Damage
      3. Terror Arrows, Soul Magic, Elemental Damage
      4. Paralyzing Arrows, Elemental Damage
      5. Moonbow, Arrow of Slaying, Elemental Damage, Runebow
    Assassin (14 AP)
    • Knife in the Darkness, Dagger in the Back, Assassin's Trick
      1. Sneak Attack Training, Stealthy II
      2. Sneak Attack Training, Damage Boost III
      3. Sneak Attack Training
    Thief-Acrobat (3 AP)
    • Staff Control
      1. Fast Movement
    Mechanic (1 AP)
    • Arbalester
Total base sneak atk bonus: 10d6 rog lvls + 3d6 Imp Sneak Atk feat + 3d6 Assassin enhs = 16d6. I should maybe invest more in elf cores for the PBS range increase, but that's easy enough to tweak. 35% Fort bypass (Precision + Opportunist) which goes up to 50% if you have Grim Precision as well. EDIT: Assassin's Trick is another 25% bypass.

Not bothering to list EDs & Twists because, well, it's about what you'd expect: FotW, Dreadnought, Crusader, Shadowdancer, or Shiradi - take your pick.
This would work very well as an ER of my new Prowler build. I had been thinking that it could become an elven AA, with great run speed and defenses, or, should one wish, a mechanic. The loss of the level 20 capstone in its splashing of barb and wiz doesn't matter with the elven AA path.
I plan to steal your build here, hope you don't mind...

No problem, although I plan to dust off the old rog 13 / rgr 6 template for an AA: 41 AA / 14 elf or HE / 11 DWS (Sniper Shot) / 11 Assassin (Assassin's Trick) / 3 Acro (Fast Movement). Total SA is about the same as pure rogue thanks to +3d6 from DWS; but Sniper Shot is great for extra SAs and obviously is great for FotW too. Extra level can be barb for +10% run speed (total +23% w/Acro).

Someone pitched me a build idea: a pure rogue Acrobat who also uses longbows with Manyshot. [I think they have a eElemental Bloom and eSapphire Sting banked away and was looking for build ideas to use them.] This is clearly a gimpy flavor build, so I was immediately intrigued. I remembered this thread and decided to deposit the build here, since it's kinda-sorta in the same vein.

Arcane Archer Acrobat -> Triple A
    Code:
    Triple A (U33)
    Rogue 20

    3. Pin (Tier 2 Shiradi)
    4. Rejuvenation Cocoon (Tier 1 Primal)
    5. Brace for Impact (Tier 1 Sentinel)
First I take PBS/Rapid Shot/Manyshot instead of Power Atk/Cleave/GC chain. Then I invest heavily into elf+AA tree for 5d8 acid imbues, Morphic Arrows (which works w/Pulverizer), +3% Dodge/Doubleshot/Doublestrike from elven Skill, and DEX to dmg w/longbows from Grace. Round it out with Harper for KtA; if you don't have Harper, you can invest in Assassin for more sneak atks or Mechanic for greater PBS range.

For this build in Dreadnought, Elemental Bloom becomes 15-18/x4 19-20/x6 with all relevant crit bonuses; while Sapphire Sting becomes 16-18/x3 19-20/x5 (with Morphic Arrows + IC:Ranged).

Heroic leveling you play as a conventional melee Acrobat until lvl 18; that's when this build respecs Enhancements to take Elven Grace + racial AA tree and adds Manyshot to its combat rotation.

There's a little flexibility with the epic / ED feats, mostly depending on whether you want to focus on melee DPS, ranged DPS, or extra PRR for better survivability.

I'm looking at this build at random and realizing how the new racial tr could benefit this build immensely. +2 dex and 10ap means in ungbongwah's idea, you suddenly have 29ap to spend outside the AA and elf trees.

As for how effective third build would actually be though is up for debate, mainly in the 5+ reaper situations. But considering how rarely i run those now i don't see much problem.

EDIT: this fact had already been covered in the prowler thread.

Depending on which build you're talking about:

On pure rogue focused on AA, what I wanted to have is 41 AA / 23 Assassin / 20 elf or HE / 3 Acro. That's 87 APs total, which means you "only" need 21 RRs for the extra racial APs. No big deal, right?! 9 more RRs gets you 3 "free" APs to do what you want with.

Basically, every AP earned from RR is another AP you can spend in Assassin.

On my Triple A build, 10 more APs would be enough to get T4 AA, letting you add either Paralyzing Arrows or an exta 2d8 elemental imbue dmg. Or alternatively, tweak things so you can pick up Assassin's Trick, Venomed Blades, and extra SA.

I was pretty mad thinking about this. For the life of me, they've made it impossible (that I can figure out) to get the capstone of AA, Aerenal Grace, and the 18 core of Mechanic. I'm always off by 1ap no matter how I figure it up because of the cost to get grace. I seriously contemplated just forgetting it (and going as a Helf Strength build) but I couldn't bring myself to justify it over the pure dex build. Not to mention you'd need to include bow strength which just throws a wrench in there regardless of what you do.

I take it devs still haven't fixed the crit multiplier on racial Shadow Arrows? Doesn't surprise me if that's still the case, of course, but I don't have any epic elf / HE toons I could use to test it.
