    Smile Character Handedness

This may come as a very odd question and request, but how difficult would it be to have the option at character creation to chose right or left handed? LOL

It would be really cool considering I am left handed and watching my character swing a sword in his right hand throws me off a little. Just a question and an idea and possibly an interesting discussion.

Would be a lot of work for animation I think and haven't seen a MMO do it myself. I remember when we were kids thst they worked hard to force my brother not to be a lefty especially at after school caticisem classes

Yea, I remember being forced to learn to use my right hand when I was little. I do almost everything with my left. Heck I figure that if they can do it in sports games they can do it in an MMO. I agree it would be a lot of animation, but would be some nice flavor. It would really make me feel more immersed in the game if I felt like my toon was actually me swinging the sword. LOL

    Right Handed and /Signed!

I've always felt that this was something that is missing from DDO.

    Cool

The majority always misunderstands the minority in society! Don't discriminate! Left handed and proud!

It's fun when actually sword fighting. Hard to prepare for the thing swinging from the other side.

    Cool

I think this needs a slight bump and might even be cool if I could get a Dev response as to the viability and possibility of this ever happening!

But then there are others like me who don't need immersion like that because we treat our characters as seperate people with their own personalities and back stories. That is not to say that you shouldnt be able to immerse, by all means go ahead.

This is true; however, any character I create in DDO or even in PnP are always left-handed. Back stories and personalities are always different, they're just always left handed. There is always some semblance of myself in every character. Always left handed, and most often times blue-eyed as well. I also enjoy trying to RP as Chaotic or Neutral because I'm Lawful by nature. I like a good challenge to my natural personality.

I think left handed players would be nice, but just the base line work involved for the animation process would be more then a few hours. Take that and add it to the hand flagging for shields, orbs and rune arms, and enhancements like swashbuckler and any other off hand dependent things. To me it seems like it would be an investment of many hours with little gain outside of the fact it being nice to play in a characters right mind.

I wish it was simple to add to a game, even without the fact that left handed throwing builds might be better then right handed throwers. But, I think the hours invested would be better invested in other things, like maybe the cannon blasts in DotJ.
I would have a sig, but Someone might be offended by it so I will just list characters.
Vicinity, Proximity, and far to many bank toons too list.
-Sorry to any bank toons that are offended by me not listing mine-

Listen, you're left handed, deal with it. You can not play 2nd base, 3rd base or shortstop!

    A little off topic:
In the withcer pnp RPG, left handness was a perk you had to pay for at character creation.
Reasoning: majority of people are right handed, so people are trained to fight against right handed people. Someone weilding sword in other hand gives then penatly to rolls agains them, and gets bonus to rolls against them.

Well that is a cool development trait to have in your characters. I always have a little bit of myself in my characters (usually a quirk or a persona aspect/ flaw) so I can relate to them a little bit but for the most part they are very different from me. It is more fun to me the more unlike me they are, lets me try to understand different mindsets.
