    Default Low FPS

Hey, I've been experiencing low fps since I switched from my Radeon 5970 to my newer (and considerably faster) R9 290. In public places like the harbor and marketplace I'm sitting at around 15-20 fps and in quests with things blowing up etc. I'm often dropping down below 10. I've tried running in DX 9,10 and 11, tried turning graphics all the way up and all the way down, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the framerate at all.

    PC specs are:

    CPU Phenom II 6x 3Ghz
    GPU R9 290 4gb
    Ram 8gb
And an SSD drive with ddo installed.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Driver issue?

    Drivers are up to date.

Also I'm only having these fps issues in ddo, no problem running newer games.

How new is the processor? Is it an Intel with the graphics built into it? If so, is it possible DDO is being run through it instead of your Radeon?

Check your Device Manager for which graphics processors your OS can see. If you have an Intel GPU as well as your Radeon in the list, you may be able to disable the onboard GPU in your PC's bios.

Hmmm...perhaps it's a setting in your Catalyst Control Center.

Can't help you much more than that.

I'll go for the driver/CCC thingie too...

Personally when I upgrade a GPU I uninstall the old driver ( even if it's the same vendor ), restart the PC ( under good old 640*480 ), make sure everything has been removed, and then install the new hardware and driver...

Now I wouldn't try DX10 or 11, as the performances are way way better under DX9 in game. ( by a factor 10 between DX11 and DX9 in FPS )
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

Run GPU-Z and see if your GPU is being used at all, if not then I reckon it's probably driver related. Try rolling back to a later driver sometimes previous drivers are more stable than latest releases, I have always hated ATI graphics for this reason always ran in to problems with their drivers but everybody has different experiences.
