Thanks for staying up past your bedtimes, to try to work out a fix for this.
I'd rather you take your time and get it right than rush it out and repeat it all over again.

This kind of response is why we typically do not provide rough estimates on uptime during unexpected issues like we've seen today, as they are seen as "moving the goal posts" when inevitably things come up during the build process, mirroring process, staging, backup, QA checks, etc. Typically, I'd use a response along the lines of, "The worlds are currently unavailable. At this time there is no ETA. We'll keep you updated." However, I know that too causes consternation, so I've been trying to be looser in providing information today.

We are making progress, and are quite a bit closer to opening the worlds. We'll let you know when they reopen.

Good job Kompera, no more estimates because SOME people don't understand what "maybe" means.

Actually, my mind is pretty much at ease. Viruses don't freak me out, I remove them for a living. Kazy is more of a spyware/adware type thing than a nasty data eating virus.
Although, I was wondering if it suddenly got a taste for Tomes.

So that's why we don't eat them anymore .... Viruses do LOL

Still think my son has a great idea though, since we read them now instead of eat them, we should be able to put the tomes into an Account library for our toons to all be able to read. Won't matter if something happens like this anymore. We can always go to our Account Tome Library and read up on what you done forgot (once a tome Is added it can not be removed for selling, or trading, only read by a toon on your account)

would be like an addition to the shared bank.... (AHEM) something else needing to be purchased ... I know I would buy an Account Tome Library.... if the tomes could be used across the account... including tomes of learning...

Firstly, see your local apothecary for a nice lubricating balm to prevent further chafing.
Then, visit your primary care giver to have the shaft you chafed thoroughly examined, before it becomes infected.
Lastly, do something other than watching porn while the servers are down, to avoid the issue altogether.

I feel badly for those people at Turbine who are stuck working late to fix the mistakes of others. However, I don't feel sorry for whoever is responsible for not only writing the faulty code that resulted in the loss of tomes and hence the extended down time but then not testing it thoroughly enough to detect such an obvious bug.

That's just bad work. That guy should be on the hook for beers for everyone else.

I know I wouldn't be very impressed if I had to stay at work late to fix someone's mistakes.

I have no doubt at all that his job hangs in the balance, considering the unrest the lengthy downtime is causing in the community.

If it isn't the handy work of a disgruntled recently made ex-employee who was working on the codes and decided to frag them for losing his job, before he left. The ultimate revenge would be to cause a lengthy downtime for any company or game, costing them customers and extra wages for the overtime to find and fix the faulty codes. If you did just release an employee on bad terms, you might want to take a look at the codes he/she was working on!

I for one am not happy right now at almost two days collective downtime in one month, to top off the slow reply time to important tickets!

The reason for the downtimes seems self-evident: Incompetence!
They hired bottom of the barrel techs and devs, so we have to pay for it with downtime. It's an American company. Do you really expect anything more than extremely poor quality?

Since it seems you hate America, why not just do all of us Americans a favor and boycott America and everything that comes from it. Then perhaps we will no longer see your hate mongering bull **** on this forum. Posts like yours have nothing to do with DDO nor gaming at all, they are simply tailored to generate hate against an entire nation and are completely irrelevant to this community or any other.
