Default upgraded to windows 10, DDO Launcher no longer works.

I am now unable to play the game ever since I upgraded to windows 10. I have downloaded each of the download options and neither work. I either get, waiting in line and then nothing or the launcher installer just goes away. No idea what I should do.

Fresh install with DX12 does not work. I would like to hear an official workaround or preferably, a game that is compatible with modern hardware and operating systems.

    Sincerely,

Sorry I do not have a solution for you, but I also upgraded to Windows 10. The game and launcher work just fine for me after the upgrade.

Upgraded to windows 10 myself. Can't play either. I can get all the way up to selecting which server I want to play on, but when I click the server, the launcher goes away and the game does not start. Luckily, I have a second system that I have no upgraded yet.

Figured it out. On the launcher, there's a little down arrow at top right of it. Pull it down and go through the settings , find repair tab and click the check box for reset settings. I'm now in the game!

See if you missed setting up permissions, and try using different direct x, or compatibility mode. It might just allow the launcher, as you run it, but not allow DDO client, as its separate program ran by the launcher, and needs extra permissions and stuff.

    Hello!

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble after your upgrade. It would help to know whether you have been getting an error message when "the launcher installer just goes away"?

Any additional information could help find the root of the problem.

go to documents, ddo, user preferences.

scroll down till you see the proxy settings.

and make sure the following is set like this...

    [HttpProxy]
    HttpProxyAccess=true

    Weird...

I am also on Windows 10. My DDO has been working fine since I upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago.

However today when I got home and tried to play DDO I also crashed to desktop when I selected my server.

I manged to get in once by doing the "Repair" option above. I also managed to get in once or twice by deleting my userpreferences.ini file.

Then it stopped working at all

Suddenly, I get a notification that Windows 10 needs me to reboot to apply an update.

After I reboot I try to open DDO and Bitdefender immediately flags dndclient.exe as "suspicious" and won't run it until I click "Unblock".

Now DDO works just fine again. Yay!

So... did Microsoft break something with an update and then fix it real quick??? Or was it my anti-virus? Seems kinda odd.

Try the link in my signature for "Download DDO" and see if that helps, also download the DirectX runtime from Microsoft and install that too

Hi, ok, so I'm having the same issue. The launcher recognizes my password, gets to "choose a world" and then just vanishes after I select one. I have checked my firewall - DDO does not seem to be blocked.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    hi,

with windows 10 upgrade being free i have installed windows 10 on my second PC and attempted to install DDO, every thing i try doesn't work and the game wont run. i have tried to use stoner81's Ddo wrapper with no luck, i documented how how i installed the wrapper as quoted below and every thing else Ive tried has not worked including downloading and installing from ddo.com. any help here would be much appreciated. every one in game that i have spoken to about this issue have informed me that they have experienced the same problem and reverted back to windows 8.

I uninstalled DDO completely, I checked windows update to be sure i was up to date and also checked that i have net.framework installed UAC is turned off:

I then used your ddo wrapper to reinstall ddo:

    The wrapper was installed successfully:

While the launcher was updating it tried to restart and left me with the following message:

I tried to start the launcher manually with the turbine invoker which didn’t work and when trying to launch with the turbinelauncher.exe i was left with the following message:

I have looked in set default programmes but im not sure which programme i should associate it with or if there is even a correct programme there to do so....

    Plz help

First from your screenshot, the TurbineLauncher file I see is an XML file... known as TurbineLauncher.exe.config in older windows.

You should have another TurbineLauncher.exe file.

If you don't have one, there's been an issue with the patching of DDO.
and you need to recover it from the backup directory you should have in your DDO directory.

Personally I've chosen to avoid the Official launcher long ago due to the many issues encountered with it and use an alternate mean to start the game
( and keep it updated ), namely PyLOTRO.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

ok, we are slowly getting there.

Check again in your DDO directory and look for the three following files :

    - patchclient.dll
    - selfpatch.dll
    - TTEPatchClient.dll

If they are not in your DDO directory, dig them out from the backup directory. They should be there too.

I basicely tried about 300 different fixes to get ddo working.

I tried changing permissions, turning off firewalls, antivirus and the likes, reloaded and such.

The play as you load version works, but only ''while'' loading. Once the game is loaded, if I close it, it doesn't launch again.

I tried with sandboxie, doesn't work either.

It's infuriating, because there is nothing else I can think off to fix this.

I tried the ddo wrapper from stoner, I tried the pylotro, I tried using an old torrent that had an old version of the game on it. none of those worked.

Only thing that works, is play while loading, wich, isn't really a solution, since I can't very well reload the goddamn entire game everytime I want to play, that'd be stupid.

That is not DDO-Wrapper, those files are the original files provided by Turbine from when the Shadowfell expansion was released.

    This is Turbines fault!

I just tried downloading this game and it gave me the error 201 bullcrap. Maybe if Turbine gave a ****, we wouldn't be going through this error nonsense!

First of all, the download page, it doesn't even tell me what or which one I need to download. If I remember correctly, there were 2 options before to download, 1 was install then play and the other was play as you install. The play as you install worked last time I tried it and the install first then play didn't work so why did Turbine change the download page so now we can't see which one we're downloading?

    Turbine, FIX YOUR ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a joke!

Do not upgrade to win 10! It is another win8 fail. If you already did, downgrade back.

    hi flavilandile,

thanks for the help, this has resolved my issue i can now load into the game via the client installed on my windows 10 PC. for any one else that wants to know how i got it working, i downloaded stoners DDO wrapper (which he said i had the wrong one) regardless it got me to the point in my above posts. i then copied the files flavilandile recommended from the back up folder and it now works.

i will likely install windows 10 on my main PC now
