Default Wizard 20 melee build possible?

Since Turbine has decided to make tripe-completionist DC casters worthless in the newest content, it's looking like melee's the best option. Spamming Magic Missles is against my religion.

I'm not in the mood to TR, how viable is a Wixard 20 Eldritch Knight? Figure THFing, blitzing can't be that awful.

    Anyone try this?

To my knowledge most people who want a melee Wizard do some multiclassing Blade of Velsharoon is what I usually suggest to people asking for this kind of build.

yes - very doable, for heroics. WF with adamantine body, and self heals.

Epics, well, doable, but I would think a tad more tricky.

Some advice in my sig from several int based build. Good Luck! am certain that more advice coming.

Fighter levels is what makes EK work well. And WF/Bladeforge for self heals.

As a Wizard BaB will not be an issue...

The issue lies in your extra feats will be Wizard Feats and not Melee feats.

Still this is workable. The main trick is to marry your melee with spell damage. You won't hit as hard with melee damage, but using the right key spells will help you supplement that melee damage.

Now, I've seen this done combining this with PM for Wrath form utilizing both lesser and Death aura (as much for the damage as for the healing).

Lich form works well to if you are willing to go 31 AP into the PM tree.

EK makes up for the Cleave and if you use the Tier 5 you have Tensor's covered.

If you judge it only on the Melee capabilities you will be sad, if you are willing to see its potential with spells you may find you like that style much better.

Incorporeality is great defense and only monks and wizard wraiths get it to 25% outside of some shadar kai stuff and SD etc. Wraith form also adds puncturing as a suffix to all weapons (1d6 Con) and of course EK further adds elemental imbues. Perhaps with a falchion? Take heavy armor
    proficiencies etc.

OTOH you can splash wraith as a platform, so the Blade of Delsharoon suggested by Grailhawk, or 12 wraith/8 fighter kensei.

I plan to do Wraith/5 bard swash/3 rogue for trapping, evasion, incorp displacement & dodge for my next run:

Possible? Sure. A good idea? Wellll...let's just say it's a good thing LD is still so OP to help hide how subpar your base DPS will be - EK is a lousy DPS PrE.

Since you don't want to TR, what have we got to work with, in terms of current race, tomes, build pts, etc.?

It's possible, but you wont be doing EE's with great success, unless you are also spamming missiles for stuns. Vulnerability weapon, And AoE DoT's/debuffs are a must. Use all the slowing mists/storms/whatever else you have, to slow down enemies, and make them blind/con drained/whatever else, max out your arcane alacrity, wear heawyest armor, and after casting your spell fail spells, switch to tower shield/weapon combo, if you cant stun things. There are 2 ways to go about this
    1)elemental vulnerability DoT's -sloooow
2)Proc hunter (mortal fear, exc) - worse version of shiradi proc spamming.

Only problem is burst healing, as cooldows are kinda bad.

    Wrong.

I mean it's okay in EEs, not stellar but not terrible. The plans is to just get me through the 60 or so Defilier raids without draining my supply of SP pots.

SWF, Medium armor, all DPS feats, Bliztings, hjealing with coccoon and scrolls. Spells mostly buffs.

Getting about the same or more kills as i was when PM in EN/EH Defiler raids only it's costing me ZERO pots per run. If this character had better DPS gear it would reach the level of not-terrible.

When I get the gear I want out of this raid I'll abandon the build and this lousy content.
