Well, 2 months and 1 week, and I'm done with my internship.
Back to campus next-to-next week.

Been listening to a lot of Clean Bandit's music, really like it.

Oh, dang! Didn't mean to jinx your bee-luck. Glad it didn't turn worse, tho.

As for the 'thumb war', remember to pick yer battles. (I just looked down at my non-typing hand and realize I've tucked my thumb protectively inside my fingers. A sympathetic thumb-cringe, I guess.)

So it's been a rather eventful week at the Bekki household.

Glad it wasn't worse, hope you and yours recover swiftly and fully. You can try to occupy your wife with things she can do one-handed, like playing Yahtzee.

Never heard of bees setting up a hive on the ground around here. We're more at risk of them starting hives in our window AC units (which incidentally riles them and spews them into the home when you turn the AC on). I'm sensitive to them myself but not dangerously so. When I was 5 or 6, I was stung under the tongue by one that flew in my soda can at the park. I did have to go to the emergency room that time because apparently if your tongue swells up that's very bad. But since then the two or three other stings have only caused a pretty ugly welt and minimal swelling. My son was stung this summer on his foot. Luckily, it didn't look much worse than a mosquito bite - just very pink and hurt for a day.

I was a little concerned because between the allergies on my side of the family and the allergies on his father's side - I should be keeping my kids in plastic bubbles but oddly enough the only allergy to have shown up in either of my kids is one to nuts. Which is doubly strange because neither my hubby nor myself has a nut allergy. *confused*

And I said I said I react rather poorly to Bee's and several other "Bitey, Stingy, type insects....





Well, over the weekend I'm doing some Yard W***

Putting some border stones against the fence line to keep out ground hogs.

(They don't like them because they can fall in the hole and disrupt their digging.)

When I realize "hey I need dirt to fill in the hole, so I can place the stones this spot."

So I decide to clear some leaves in the corner of my yard...

This will A. Clear the leaves and debris; and B. Free up the ground (where there is no grass due to the leaves.) Kill two chores at once right... Riiiight...

Yeah, I can rake the leaves, so I can scrape some dirt and fill the holes in. I think to myself "What a smrt idea. I can even plant grass in the corner too, this’ll be great!" Uhmm Yeah. It didn't go that way.

I proceed to rake the leaves and inadvertently expose a hive of bee's that made their nest in the ground. Let's just say they were 'displeased' with my intrusion.

I run for the hills, (Rake in hand) get to the back steps and begin swatting furiously
as I realize I had several "hitchhikers". Unfortunately, it was later in the day and they were much more active...

So, a trip to the hospital later; and an overnight stay... (I was kept overnight for observation...) Yup; it twas not my finest hour...

Add to that the wife (not to be outdone decides to drop the back seat of the new outback on her hand and proceeded to break her thumb.

So another trip to the doc for X Rays... and we need to see the hand specialist Friday. The fun part is trying to get her to STOP USING IT!

She can be rather stubborn and independent. (I love her for it, but it can be frustrating at times.)

So it's been a rather eventful week at the Bekki household.

*looks at the disaster that is his yard.

I KNEW I was neglecting that for some reason.

Have finished three of my Deathwatch models.

MUCH better than my first few models, i feel like i'm really improving.

Meanwhile, some dummie decided to punch something he shouldn't have and broke the knuckle off the end of his 5th metacarpal. Hm.

Ya. Give in and make trip to Urgent Care for an X-ray in hopes is just bruised joints, but no such luck. However, they find BP is running 180/120. So getting sent to Ortho surgeon for bone set, but have to get BP chems to get that under wraps first.


This is why I don't go to docs, they always say mean things.
