How could it be wrong with a menu like this?
going great so far. finished all my work by friday afternoon, so been free all this time.
i should push myself to finish my stories, but i just can't face 'em.
also, destiny 2 has been tugging at me since announcement. the price tag and the fact that i shouldn't go spending crazy has kept me safe so far, but it's a hard thing.

*Opens door slightly farther*
*Enters slowly into a room that is familiar yet somehow forgotten*
*Leaves note on bar*
Note reads- To my valued comrades. While my path has led me to other worlds you are never forgotten. May your lives be filled with love, joy and ease.

seems GW2 is ramping up for another expansion.
makes me glad i haven't bought Destiny 2, since i'll definitely buy the expansion. that's like a pre-determined cost.

Good afternoon all.
Good luck DB. If you don't mind the question, what is the most difficult aspect of editing to you?

having to re-read what i consider to be trash. that itself isn't so bad, but it's trash of my creation. that's bad.
i also have to re-write sections and that's not so fun.
i wish i could just send it and be done with it, but if i'm going to send a turd it may as well not smell.
edit: made it more than halfway in the second story. got class tomorrow so i'm gonna sleep, hopefully i can continue this into tomorrow.

I write for myself sometimes. If I let anyone else read my ramblings like my mother or a friend, I try editing but for me the difficulty lies in determining what is crucial to the story and what is backstory that can remain just something I know about the characters or the location. How descriptive is too descriptive? What events and interactions are important versus superfluous? Which details matter to characterization?
My husband says I'm too verbose.
I was watching the pilot of a television show about William Shakespeare last night titled Will, discussing it I determined that while the characters are compelling the story so far isn't and stylistically its not to my taste. Mostly I feel the same about my stories. I like my characters, they speak to me, I like my settings, but I don't know how to write the plots in a style that captivates. I wish I had taken more than a couple creative writing courses in college.
Good luck. I wish you the best.

I am bad at writing anything that has characters, descriptions or events. I am far better at essays.
I was attending Finncon last year, and one of the guest of honours told how he wrote a book, then wrote another book, and after that wrote the first book again because writing the second book he learned something that would make the first book better. So he kept writing new books and rewriting the old books until they were published.
My wife says that rewriting books is quite common way for novelists to work. For me the point is that a book can always be improved, so it would never be ready if it wasn't for publisher who says: "This is good enough to publish."
DB, you likely have a long publishing career in beginning. Later your fans will maybe think that your first couple of books may feel a bit juvenile or rough or simple compared to your later works, but they will love them all the same. And they will want to find more and more.
