Being a kid, I just knew that christmass lights have both male and female ends. So with how I ran the lights in the tree the first time, I needed a male male cord. Low and behold there was one in the stash. (I have no idea why.) something didn't look right so I unplugged it from the lights and for whatever reason I put my knee down on the active plug.

Yeah that hurt. But when I looked down to see what bit me I didn't see anything. So naturally I had to play and figure out what the heck was going on. Somehow, and I don't know how, I figured out "oh that must be electricity." And then proceeded to play the game of "how long can I hold onto it." It wasn't long.

edit: the real sad thing is that doing so actually ended up helping me later on trouble shooting electrical issues. Wood should never "zap" you. Well... it was. And then I was like "wait a sec.... that was familiar." Proceeded to tell the wife that if my hand doesn't come away in 2 seconds to knock me over. Hard. She didn't have to knock me over but I was going after that... "Yeap... that's 120 ac. How the heck." Ground on conduit was shorted and live.
you guys and your safe 120 ac system. man up and make the yummy 230 ac we have, that one sure does take the hairs of ones chest, hehe.

And sadly your story makes me think of this..

Both the gif and the story are highly amusing I bet Funny loved the part about being allowed to knock you for six to, hehe

Logging in for my free keys on LOTRO side got me hooked for the weekend. (with very little hooking going on)

Got my main up to 70, and opened a level 70 Loot Box I'd been saving for the occasion.

Got 175 Marks, and a 5-stack of Skirmish Soldier Summons that are min level 20 to use. Was like ... well, I said stuff. Then submitted a ticket and posted a new thread on the forums. Long story cut short on that bit, those are two possible drops for the 1-3 items in a L70 box. That gave me a sad.

But then I hung around on the forums there for a while, and was pretty shocked by the light-handedness of the moderation there. Some of the 'debates' were almost Vault-worthy. But then again, /World chat on the weekend is pretty messed up in game, too.

Given that it was the lotro side that abused the hell out of the rep system, we've had posts by past lotro devs of what it was like at Turbine, and a few other things....

Frankly, I'm not shocked at all.

I started to bump our old Tavern thread there, just to poke fun at the fact that at least we hadn't broken those forums yet - but changed my mind cuz I didn't want to bring it back into that toxic environment.

Very cool. i've set the green button to be my recording button. just have to fix fraps now, as it isn't working for some reason.
edit: decided to start using shadowplay. wasn't working with multi monitors earlier, good to see it's fine now.

Slept all morning, + an hour.

Gambled incorrectly that I would wake up before the rain got here, so sleep was interrupted once for a run out into a very cold deluge the close up my Jeep. ...but my blanket was cozy warm after I got back in and dried off.

    Still raining. Making drowsy....

    Default Unintentional experiment with VIP

So ... back in 2014 there was a sale for VIP 1 year subscriptions to DDO. Specifically, buy the $99 1 year subscription and get an extra 3 months as a bonus. Hey 25% extra sounds like a pretty good deal to me. So, I bought it. I had every intention of not renewing and going back to premium.

With that in mind, I dutifully saved up my TP for the 15 months so that I could spend it on quest packs when my membership ran out. Along the way, I found some other things worth wanting to keep. Most notably the shared bank. As a result, I had nearly 9000 TP saved up (mostly spent as planned).

About a month ago, my VIP ran out. Annoyingly this was not long after a 20% off sale for a bunch of quest packs ended.

There is one aspect of VIP that I miss. It surprised me but in the 2 years that I've been playing DDO, I've gotten better at it and as a result, normal difficulty is not longer much of a challenge. But as a premium, I can't open on hard or elite unless I've run the quest before with that character (or pay to open on a higher level with TP). Everything else I can either buy with a one-time pay-out of TP or I don't really miss.

I don't miss the free weekly gold roll. It was fun when I got the good prizes but I don't really miss it.

I don't miss the extra XP. In fact, the 10% XP boost that VIPs get was annoying at times. I'm in a couple of static groups with non-VIP players and after a year of play that 10% gets noticeable. I may change my attitude on this when I've got past lives to deal with but so far I don't notice it.

I don't miss the for-pay-or-unlock classes and races. Or more accurately, the ones I found fun while VIP, I purchased (if I hadn't already unlocked them). The others, I don't miss.

I might miss not being able to create guilds except that I created a guild on each server before my VIP ran out. Granted they are just placeholders at the moment but I've got them should I ever decide to try and be a guild leader for more than a static group.

That's a fairly common position. Once you have a solid idea what parts of the game you want and can get hold of, Premium is a good deal. I'm still in the midst of my current VIP run from the most recent 12+3 month deal. Open-on-Elite came in handy for my first/only/last TR, and the +10% town movement can be addicting.

By the time this sub runs out, I'll be ready to slip back to Premium again myself - and get some more serious fishing in over on Hobbit-side.

edit: Quest pack sales: Hold out a little longer on any you're missing yet. We're getting down to the bottom of the calendar where they throw us some really good seasonal discounts.
