Hehe interesting.
I have done it on the other side, I roleplayed a female for several years in Star wars Galaxies. I also had a male character there for non RP things (max limit was 2 chars in those days!) but the female was the main character. Noone ever knew I was male and the experience was rather eye opening as to how female characters are treated compared to male ones.
I was a master Rifleman/ Master Hunter back then and ran a small but highly valued hunting operation where I hunted creatures for skin/ bone to sell to the tailors who needed it. All interactions where face to face RP, even all my dress making days (I had a lot of dresses that where all custom made on the spot in a RP event) I always made sure I was in character and in a matching attire - no uber armors etc, just me my dresses and skill at knowing the class. Taking down a kryat dragon in a dress solo left a few male players feeling a little .... well the epeens suffered hehe. Admittedly those fights used to take me at least 40mins for one kill. Even the guild council I was voted onto never worked out I wasn't a female and there were RL females on the council. On the whole life as female avatar was a lot more pleasant than life on a male avatar in that game.
Anyways, I took my findings to DDO and made a male char as a newbie and was expected to know what was what and make do. When I did the same test on a female char, I got everything handed to me and everyone was really nice. Exactly what I found in SWG. Even now when I take a female char out and make a wrong turn and get a little lost the rest of the group automatically assume i'm a female controlling the avatar. I almost wet myself one night on Sunshine my orange haired Elf Cleric (an obvious poor race choice so i must be a girl they all said!), well I stopped to get coins from boxes (Girl trait! they said), I asked if anyone wanted stuff I looted (Girl trait! they said) I took a wrong turn in Gianthold explorer zone as I hadn't been out there for a while (Girl trait! they said) and finally I healed ppl and looked after the group (Girl trait! again).
I never said anything apart from play the game and had fun, but the debate in the group as to if I was a guy or a girl was hilarious. In the end it was agreed I was a girl, lol.
actually thinking on that now I dunno if that's a compliment or not, lol.
In short it's one of the things I find quite amusing in online games, and it kinda shows that the notion of chivalry isn't quite dead yet. Us blokes do like to look after the females in our midst, although some probably want more than that![]()
I have to agree with you. What works in my favor is that I *don't* decorate houses or worry so much about pretty dresses or picking up shinies when grouped. I like zerging. I make naughty jokes sometimes and can let sarcastic remarks roll off my back. I don't mind a bit of PVP or talking strat if needed. So if I just cut back on my emoticons and consciously drop words from my vocabulary like 'cute' and 'pretty' then I guess I can fit what's expected of a male player.
But NOW things are gonna get real interesting. After some cajoling, hubby is gonna join up with a female character and do what I'm doing. And my plan is to 'woo' her on my guy. I'm debating if I should keep the 'wooing' to interpersonal chat or posting it to guild, because this could be an utter failfest lol. IRL women can just look at a guy seductively and say "Home. Now." and get what she wants, so trying to win someone over with courtship is a new experience for me. I hope he plays hard to get because it will wrack my brain lol!![]()

So, in other news...
Have this acquaintance/friend with a bit of a gambling problem. On occasion I've tried to steer him away from the playing, but pretty much is always a fail, of course.
So he calls me a little while ago and tells me he hit $10,000 and would I take him to Topeka Monday morning to cash in the ticket. >_<
What did *I* win today? A freshly mown lawn, some clean gutters, and a few less Poison Ivy plants in the fence. ....

Over weekend, between naps, managed to finish up 3BC and GH sagas, popped for one of those tasty 75% off guild pots, and jumped the guild from 33 to 35.
And friend did indeed win the full $10K, will get the check in about 7-10 days.
...Now if only he remembers the year and a half he was off w*** and I covered his cigarette habit.![]()
