been playing a lot of DDO lately.
really enjoying it.
i'll hear the results of my Master's Application in 5 days. really nervous
Doppelganger? Whatever are you talking about, my dear?
It's my son's fault...
He and his friends re-installed Diablo 2 and played for a few days on the newly reset Ladder. I fired mine back up and made a fresh character. Then a weekend disappeared in a blink. Then sleep disappeared for the rest of a week... Then they went back to WoW again, and even I have my limits on how low I'll stoop.
I understand now, playing D2 for so many years before DDO is how I got so old so dang fast. *grimace*
Some good news.
Got accepted into a Master's Program in Japan.
fingers crossed i can actually go there though

The newest computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem in the relations between human beings, and in the end the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it. - Edward R. Murrow (1964)
Happy Flag Day, all.

Congratulations on your acceptance, Doppleganger.

That is a palindrome, not a mirror.
5112 is a mirror because the left half is a mirror image of the right half (given the right font, like a calculator).
I think the word I am looking for is ambigram, because it would also look the same if rotated 180° around the z-axis.
Btw, you're welcome for the palindrome. I left it for either you or CD out of respect for your great wisdom acquired over many decades.

I need to vent...
So my Mom is gone on a road trip with her best friend for two weeks. But she needed someone to keep her dog. I told her NO initially because she wanted us to keep the dog in the house and my hubby hates having indoor pets. The last time she stayed with us for a 4-day weekend she brought the dog and insisted it be kept inside every night and it caused quarrels between me and hubby.
So I told her no because we could not have it inside, even just at night, for two weeks. She guilt tripped me to keep it but I got her to agree that it had to stay outside in the doghouse.
What I wasn't prepared for is my father-in-law, that we care for, has dementia and he just does dotty things for no apparent reason. He also doesn't have any consistent sleep/awake schedule. He sleeps whenever and pretty much wherever he wants and he wakes up at all hours of the night.
So we'd had the dog for the last four days and everything was going reasonably smooth. I fed the dog (Lady) twice a day, gave her a treat in the middle of the day and gave her cool water 3-4 times a day (depending on the amount in her bowl). She stayed under the picnic table in the shade mostly and ignored the doghouse (also in the shade but under a tree). My kids went out to play with her and brush her and run with her. Already asking if they took good care of her... if we could get another for them.
Anyways, Dad kept looking in the backyard saying things like "I have a dog? Is that your dog or my dog?" To which I explained over and over again it was my Mother's dog we were watching for 2 weeks. Saturday morning around 8:30 am, I caught him letting the dog out of the back fence and leading her to the front. I told him to turn around and put her back. He still had her collar in his hand and said "Is this your dog? I thought it was my dog. Okay, I don't know." And then just released the dog... that didn't want to go back in the back yard... she wanted to go in the house or be loose. So we had to get her in the house to catch her and get her back in the back yard.
So fast forward to Saturday night. Dad is sleepless he keeps getting up in the night, and we have to keep putting him back to bed. He keeps turning on the heat... in Texas... in the summer, and we have to keep turning it off and putting the AC back on. The temp keeps fluctuating between 80 (where he likes it) and 74 where we can at least tolerate it enough to sleep. I woke at 4 am to turn the AC back on, hubby got up at ~5:30 am to turn the heat off and AC back on and put Dad back to bed because he was wandering around in his underwear. Son woke me at 7:23 am this morning to say Paw-paw was awake and the dog wasn't in the backyard. So by 7:30 am me and the kids were dressed and walking the neighborhood calling for Lady. We came back to the house a little after 8am having walked 5 blocks in every direction from the house and back again. So now I wake hubby and send him and our daughter by car to drive the neighborhood all the way to the freeway and the park and the bayou while I make Dad his breakfast and give him his morning meds. And make a call to the nearest Animal Control which doesn't make patrols in our area unless specifically called for an issue animal and was not called this morning by anyone but me which by the way was redirected to an emergency call center because that's all they have on Sundays.
Hubby came back a little after 9am, no sign of Lady.
So what do I tell my Mom? When do I call her? I can hope Lady comes back on her own but chances are... she's a sweet, pretty, friendly dog... chances are someone picked her up. She has a collar but I don't know if Mom got her tags and I didn't look. The only thing I can think I could have done differently was sleep in the living room until Lady went home so I would have been awake every time Dad woke. *sigh*
The weirdest bit? Hubby said his family had only ever had outside dogs and his Dad had never taken an interest in them, not even enough to walk them. So why is he letting the dog out of the backyard?
