anyone know what's good for sticking plastic to metal? i tried a normal epoxy glue, but it doesn't seem to work.

trying to stick a fake flower to a metal hairpin to make a flower pin for the gf.

    First, gratz on post #1000.

I dunno what you'd have available there, but I'd go straight to Super Glue - unless that's what you mean by 'epoxy glue'.
Epoxy, to us, means the adhesive that comes in two parts, mix together, apply, and then hardens in a short bit into a pretty much indestructible bond. That's what blade makers use to affix handles to their knives in many cases. (plastic/plasticized wood to metal)

same epoxy i'm referring to. which is why i find it odd that it didn't work.
super glue is too brittle, it breaks off very easily.

going to get some Araldite and try, used that on my 3d printer for metals and it worked well.

edit: i know araldite is also an epoxy, but i've had good experiences with it, so why not try?

Good afternoon all. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday, and those that don't celebrate Thanksgiving I hope you had a lovely weekend all the same. I baked a bunch of pies this year, in fact between the pies, the Bohemian dumplings, turkey and side dishes... I was cooking for 3 days. But its always nice when the whole family gets together. In some ways there were more of us than ever with new marriages and new babies. But the older I get the more I notice the glaring empty spots of absent grandparents, great-grandparents, great-aunts and uncles and more recently those from my mother's generation.

We celebrated with mostly my hubby's family. I don't have many blood relations on my side left I'm afraid. My mother, my half-sister, my two nephews, and my two cousins and their children but they don't live in Texas currently.

Luckily, the weather was nice so we ate outside. Eight long, plastic tables of people eating and laughing with the only arguments down at the kids tables where someone started an impromptu food fight. Why do the young ones not like greenbeans? I mean, really, I make mine with a little butter and caramelized onions and bacon and still they are non grata. >:/ Sorry, still annoyed that so many greenbeans fed the squirrels that day. At least everyone enjoyed everything else. Perhaps too much, my hubby was mourning the fact we didn't come home with any leftover pumpkin pie... I made 3 but there simply wasn't any left.

Someone made a chocolate and peanut butter reese's parfait but it barely got touched. Now this is weird but only a couple of people in my generation are allergic to peanuts, only one person in the parental generation to my hubby is allergic to peanuts but the kids generation? about two-thirds are allergic to peanuts. Severely allergic. My son included. And neither my hubby nor myself is allergic. What's up with that? Did the GMO's mess with peanuts somehow or is it something else?

Well that's enough of my thoughts... how were your holidays?

I'm sure you did but I feel like stating the obvious:

Make sure all the pieces you are trying to stick together are completely clean.

As to what else you could do, I'm about the least romantic/crafty person you could ever meet. It is, in fact, amazing I ever got married.

    so can't help you there.

Completely clean. Beat me to it.

Might also try buffing the contact surface some to rough it up for the epoxy to attain a better grip.

    Weather... Hehheh.

Thanksgiving thru Saturday was warm, shorts & t-shirt weather.

    Sunday was....

After about noon, the wind kicked up and we had electricity blinks all after noon 3-4 minutes on, 2-3 seconds off - computers and cable box all hating that on/off routine. Later in the evening it finally stayed off for a few hours, I'm guessing so they could fix the issue. By that time it was time to head out to w***.

    Good on'ya.

I'm wary of ever having a carport awning again.

tbh, what's funny is that she made the first move on me. it's... weird.

like all this time i read romance novels, enviously look at other couples, and now... i have that.

honestly, my brain still hasn't quite processed this all, even though it's been a few months.

hope it catches up soon though :P

    Just enjoy!

(I heard I was in one of those couples others looked at enviously, for no reason.
Now I would have actual reason to envy you if I were so inclined.)
