Today we had sports event at our school: pesäpallo, local version of baseball. (One immediately notable difference is that pitch is thrown straight up.)
Classes 7, 8 and 9 got their own teams, two classes of highschool had combined team and we teachers+extras got a team also. (Many of us were not able to play due to injuries or pregnancy, so we had some outsider star players).
I had not tried to hit the ball for some 25 years before this week, but with couple of minutes of practice I got my hit probability over 80%. I played one inning and outing, and managed to hit one run and run another. Luckily we won that match very fast, as my legs just gave up, so I had to sit aside for the last game. A bit less important is that we actually won the tournament. Now my face is doing its best "cooked crab" impression because it got too much sunlight.

Haven't been on much in the last week or so. Last week of school for the munchkins and my daughter missed the last four days of school (and was sick for three days after that) running a super high temp and vomiting. So I haven't had much sleep lately. She's all better now but I was rather upset that the doctor just prescribed nausea medicine and otherwise was very unhelpful.

Irritating neighbor has (had?) a chihuahua that yaps *constantly*. Has been quiet last few days, and last night on my way to w*** is a sign at the end of our road about a missing tiny black dog.
I'm thinking a hawk or owl had a tasty meal recently.

Loosing a beloved family pet is painful.
Even if it is an annoying little yappy ratdog.

Yeah, that's why I didn't /emote the post either way. I'm kinda torn on how I feel about it, too. They didn't control the animal at all - that yapping was pretty much 24/7. Plus, hawks and owls are nesting right now, and their young'uns need to eat, too. Sooo yeah. Originally Posted by Bekki

Had a large Red Tailed Hawk our this way picked up
A Little dog some time ago, and made off with it...
This one had a happy ending though...
Somehow the little dog escaped and was found 5–10 miles away,
And was reunited with the family.

We just got a puppy. Its a cute but annoying little yappy dog, a mutt. So I guess I'm feeling alarmed by the above. Not that I didn't know about the hawks and eagles in my area doing this... I've seen it first hand with a neighbor's kitten on the way to the school bus. Oh boy, but that was a discussion with the kids.
Our puppy is brown, we have named him Minion (after the brown minions of the game Overlord).
