This was my issue as well. I like you found no benefit in staying VIP so let it drop and used all accumulated TP's to basically buy everything in the game (except WF race as i have never played them or wanted to play them). On my main which is a multi TR everything is open on elite, but... those other new chars I experiment with... yeah only normal is a pain and i lost the interest in running N,H,E many years ago.
Not that I play anymore but it is interesting seeing your observations basically mirroring mine
As I stated long ago. The breakpoint is if you are a longtime player or a short time.
If your normal method is to only play an MMO for maybe a year or so then jump to the next one, VIP is the more cost effective way. If you will play an MMO for years, then buying content is the way to go once you know what content you want to try.
Turbine always fubared this. They should allow guest passes to be purchased and used by anyone. Not just by people that have the content to give to others. Spending "money" on strangers in game? We, gamers, for the most part just don't do that really. It isn't part of our normal rl culture either. Games are not a "need" after all.
*Crosses fingers, hoping my mechno-pup gets to feeling better after the update/fix.*
*Returns to prepping Hobbit-land chars for transfers.*
Made the mistake (again) of stopping by the Hobbit forum on my way to my fave fishing hole.
I find it hard to believe that people there can be so crass and asinine to reply to a thread about a player dying in a car wreck with 'good riddance,' & 'can i have his account' kind of replies.
(PvMP forums of 2 Euro servers)
That's what PvP does to people. That's why I will stand against it every chance I get.
...
I better stop there before I mess up and type what I'm *really* thinking.

First week of youngest's internship. went out for open house day today and toured the sections that work with the kids.
Best part of the trip was the walk thru the basement guts of the building on the way to the laundry facility. Narrow, low, lot of cross hallways, several sections of rough-cut brick walls... If only the electricity had gone out.
I managed to sneak a pic while there weren't any other folks behind me.

On the way home, saw the Blue Angels practicing downtown so headed that way and got to see a few fly-overs and practice routines.
Daughter enjoyed that.
Considering Ep 1 of Ecolson...
Me, I just finished up with some coding. Felt good as it has been a long while since I've done so at home for.... well, work really. Some of the processes have ticked me off for the last time so I'm building up some tools to handle this little issue. But I'm doing it on my own, for myself, because I'm tired of it.
