Hm. Never had a splinter in my lips before. Could be a new experience.

I was thinking more their sticky goo attack, not splinters... technically they only make themselves look like objects such as wooden chests but if your spot is high enough you notice that its flesh with a wood pattern. That aside, I feel a little like a mimic myself right now. I'm mimicking human but feel gross.

Anyone else watching The Orville? On the one hand I'm enjoying it... on the other its so shallow so far it hasn't really hooked me except as very light amusement.

During the interview with one mother, they popped the picture of her son up. I'll have to dig out one of my early training photos to link in, but this guy could be my doppleganger. ...or would I be his since he had the face first?



I showed the pic [cropped to just the face] to my wife, mother, and daughter (who has seen my early pix) and they all guessed that it was me.

was talking to a junior i've become well acquainted with today.
she was telling me about her concerns with her bf.

what she told me sounded very much like abuse (mental, not physical) to me.
things like where she would try to get him food when he's not feeling well, and he'd call her slow if it took too long and walk off. things like him insulting her and so on.
she told me he's taken good care of her in the past, and she's tried the same for him. (his behaviour not reflecting that)

apparently he changed when he was unwell and took some medicines from the infirmary, according to her.
he's very friendly with some people and very self centered and aggressive with others.

sounded like he was abusive and manipulative to me, and him changing with the medicines was just coincidence (our infirmary wouldn't give any prescription meds).
i told her as much, and even if she was in love with him, she shouldn't stay with him expecting him to change, and should decide based off of that.

they've been together a month.

it seemed like a massive time bomb to me, to be honest.

i know there are tons of grey areas, and i emphasized that this was advice and she should think it over herself. i've met the guy, and while he was friendly, he seemed a bit off.

what are your thoughts, guys? i know this isn't much to go on, but it'd help anyways.

Well that rules out reincarnation racial/iconic/or epic . Seriously though dopplegangers are not that unusual anymore. There are so many people in the world and statistically there are only so many facial feature combinations that there is most likely several people walking about that look like you right now or look like you did when you were younger. I had a friend in high school that looked so much like me that strangers thought we were sisters, not twins, but definitely related. We had more facial features in common than I did with my biological sister.

Mental or emotional abuse is a difficult topic. Essentially, she should ask herself several questions perhaps everyday until she's sure of the answers.

Does being with him make me happy or unhappy?
Does he make me feel good about myself?
Does he support the decisions I make for myself and my future?
Is he considerate about my feelings, my beliefs, and my health/safety?
Does he treat family and friends with respect and affection?

Many of these questions reveal the character of the person and any negative responses mean that individual still has some growing to do before they're ready to be in a good relationship.

A month is really short time for behavior to change. I predict lots of arguments in this relationship, as the man will need someone to put him in his place sooner or later. If she does not like that, I'd suggest time out, meeting perhaps twice a week on a date in a public place to see if he is any fun to hang out anymore.

One of my students in university complained to me about his boyfriend years ago. It was really nothing major, and they had been together for years. It was just that the man had no respect for her things and they had some failure to communicate, but she was losing her self-esteem and seriously depressed. Later I learned that she had married completely different guy. What you describe sounds far worse.
