Spent the previous afternoon finishing my Christmas shopping. Reminded once again why I go to the mall only once a year. Xoriat creatures in disguise I tell you.

Weirdness of the day:

Space bar that keeps refusing to work. Was happening fairly often when typing in PM windows, but has happened a couple times today trying to type replies here in forums. It's only 1 line in the reply box. If I move to a lower line, it starts working again, but I cannot return to that first line of smashed text to add spaces.


What searching I've done all suggest things like Sticky Keys &/or Filter Keys, which aren't the issue.

I barely survived the ordeal. Kept failing reflex saves to avoid getting pushed about by well dressed barbarians. Failed a lot of diplomacy checks too, nobody was in the mood to be courteous or kind. It's a shame the behavior that's demonstrated during this season. Some woman's snot-nosed child leaned out of the cart toward me to sneeze in my face (in a narrow aisle) and despite the situation I said "Bless you," and the woman looked at me as if I had cussed her precious. Pulled the cart and child away in a huff.

I had a Drink when I got home to celebrate making my fortitude save and surviving.

Next year everyone is getting books. All the normal people were in the bookstore, it was an oasis of calm and peace in a maelstrom of xoriat madness.

Okay I have to know, what does the word/sound bless mean in french? I tried looking it up and it just wants to translate how to say bless in french which isn't the same and doesn't explain connotation. PM if necessary.

So maybe she thought I said I was going to hurt the kid? That's terrible, no wonder she left in a hurry. Seems odd though, I've been to France and though my french is minimal their English is excellent. As a country we really need to start teaching foreign languages side by side with English in grade school.

And I gave your disguise idea some thought, perhaps more thought than the facetious suggestion warranted but I've decided its ill-advised for Texas. Most of us carry guns, and wearing masks outside of socially acceptable situations could be lethal. Also outside of Renaissance Faires, most of my fellow Texans have a low tolerance for orcs. ;P

Things must have changed a little since the 80s. I can recall some very... 'interesting' ...characters down around the River Walk in San Antonio. My favorite has always been the guy who was snuggled up against and making out with a mailbox, caressing the front of it and pretty sure he was kissing the mail slot.

Ok, I'm gonna play the Ugly American here... I think it's HER problem, not yours. IF
(And that's a big if), she happened to be a tourist and happened to be French or speaks it predominantly where she is from...I am fairly sure (given the nature of other countries being MUCH BETTER than the U.S. At teaching foreign languages (English being included) I am fairly sure she both understood what you said AND it's true intent.

Well its been... sheesh I don't want to say how long its been since I went to college in San Antonio, and yes in certain parts a half-orc might be able to go... if not unnoticed at least not actively hunted. However, I never frequented those areas of SA, nor the few I've heard of in Houston. But I seriously doubt the area in and around Baybrook Mall would be considered safe for half-orcs, heck that's in Webster... 'nuff said. You have to remember SA sees a lot of tourists and there's actually people banned from the city for urinating on the Alamo. I believe Ozzie is/was on that list.

Well thank you kindly, I'm not feeling terrible about it mostly 'cause there isn't much I could do about it if it was an honest mistake. Strangers come and gone and all of that. Also if it was an honest mistake I feel certain she would have vented to a friend about it and likely had the situation explained, hopefully anyway.

I hope everyone's having happy holidays. I spent a few hours last night wrapping. I wrap very slow because I'm a perfectionist. Yes, I know its going to just be ripped off in a wild frenzy but I can't help myself I must make it look pretty first.
