The new Mabar event is currently being worked on but we have no idea what might be in it. Adding a pumpkin patch with hidden mimics could be the minor event, with loot received for slaying the mimics disguised as pumpkins when found.
It would be good if the new event has been brought to the PC before release (and development). It wouldn't be nice to have another mimic failure or just a slayer area.

Lower Necro has always begged for some action, the ambiance there is spectacular for a Halloween themed event.
Creative idea that could re-cycle some code already in the game while putting a new spin on things & fit the season too. What if we just bundled all of these ideas in the thread together & called it Mabarpalooza?

Agreed, for an out of the blue surprise, it missed the mark. A big part of what caused such an uproar with the Mimic Event was the timing of it as an anniversary event & that it was substituted for the Mabar Festival. Both of these things left many feeling underwhelmed and short-changed. It might have stood fine as an event on it's own, but not in either of those roles.

It might, if there weren't all those other problems with it, like loot randomness and scarcity which was offsetted by the boring grind. All 3 of those elements were bad and added to the general idea that this event was slapped on to compensate for Mabar. Except we know for a fact that this event was in the thought process for at least 6 months, so it wasn't time that made the event to fail.
Now think about how much time the devs had to create this new event with Warlocks, ToEE and U27 on their mind. Also consider how well those releases went with ToEE being somewhat of a disappointment because of no diversity in monsters, warlock being the class that takes the best of each other class and combines them in an OP class and the U27 with mechanics similar to old quests and loot having the same old effects, only better.
Having the above in mind, it's no wonder someone might worry about what the event will be (since creativity in the dev team has swamped).

Hopefully after having these threads listed turbine/ ddo may try to bring something up this year. One can only hope.
Mabar is the only one my husband and I ever played. The others just don't hold our interest. We cannot wait to just play it again, hopefully without the lag with the dragon. The gear too... miss being able to upgrade the gear.
Mabar or "Son of Mabar" is coming back this year but without the Spectral Dragon. Here's hoping that our Haunted House idea makes it into the new version of the event.

Well said, for both the fun of it when it was working properly & for being able to salvage the gear.
Problems and all, Turbine set the bar with a fun event that garnered a large following of people that enjoyed it. The slayer area alone wouldn't cut it, I agree, although I would like a shot at finishing some gear. Let's hope that the haunted house or some other equivalent will be present in the new version as well.

Hearing everyone talk about Mabar, makes me sad that I never got to experience it... I took some time off the game and missed it..
"Denn Die Toten Reiten Schnell"
"For The Dead Travel Fast"
The spectral dragon part is one of the better raids in the game honestly so why not bring it back as a true raid (enter as a raid group), which would spread out the instances all by itself, to enter the raid they could just put some moderately large quantity of vampire fangs as the entrance fee. then put a 4 hour individual timer on the raid.
If they want to sink some raid timers out of peoples stashes they could allow raid timers to work.
The raid could drop mythic upgrade +1 to +5 ingredients that can be crafted onto the ML20, 24 and new 28 Mabar items, and have a DoJ like drop rate on the Mabar items themselves. It could keep the scaling difficulty (just use a challenge portal UI).
The Spectral dragon part of Mabar outside of it's inherent laggyiness (which I would bet share a lot of the same causes as DoJ lag, including those infernally laggy garg/abishi type mobs that pop into existence, but they just reduced that quite a bit) is actually really fun, and one of the best raids in the games if I can repeat myself.
I just think Mabar without the spectral dragon would be a soulless uninterrupted grind.

I was disappointed to hear that Mabar was pulled out of the game, although I can empathize with why many didn't want to deal with it anymore.
I've got a couple of characters that are leveling up and that would really benefit from continuing to upgrade their Mabar items (cloak and robe, in particular). I also liked the general atmosphere of the event and the boss fight.
The lag was horrible. Running around trying to find mobs to fight was a bit disappointing, with spawn camping and kill stealing being an issue. Hopefully these issues can be fixed, however they might move forward.
