10 week competition - ROUND 10 - Devils Assault

It is time for round 10 which is the final round.

Complete the quest on Elite with as low level as possible characters either solo (which means no hireling either) or grouped (which may include hirelings).
Reentry is disallowed and no more than 2 deaths are allowed.
ToEE Altar buffs may not be used.

As this is the last round points will be higher than usual.

20 points for lowest level win.
18 points for being 1 level above.
15 points for being 2 levels above.
10 points for being 3 levels above.
5 points for being 4 levels above.
2 points for being 5 levels above.

Further, to encourage early posts - if someone holds the lead alone for 48 hours it gives 1 bonus point (the same player can only earn this bonus point once).

I will be posting when the round has ended but I dont have my computer with me so I wont be able to update the spreadsheet or otherwise organise the rewards before I get home. Honestly, this quest may not be the best idea available, I was expecting something more... spectacular, like ToD/VoD/HoX/...

The problem I see with this quest is that I have to run this quest as low as possible. OK, let's say I succeed at my current lvl15. I want to make better result, so I need to run on lower than 15. What does that mean? I have to roll a new character and level it up (in less than a week), then for the next try do the same again and again. Whoever has access to Iconics is in great advantage to others as they do not need to level the toon up. Also equiping will be an issue as it clearly favors long-time players with tons of plat and other resources (crafting). Let's say all completed at lvl12. Last day someone posts completion at lvl11. If I am to break it/get to the joint lead, I need to create new toon and level up to 10/11 in few hours. Good luck even with VetII status.

Sorry if this seems negative, Mikarddo, your challenge is very nice thing and brought me quite a lot of fun times thinking out ways how to beat the quests. Just I do not think the selection of such quest with specific ruleset on entry is wise choice.

PS: I do not think I will be joining round 9 or 10 anyway as my gaming PC died yesterday, so I am out of the contest unless I find replacement soon. Feel free to disregard what I said above for the same reason.

I had not originally intended to include this quest - but seeing that everything else has been completely smashed to pieces including running lvl 30 challenges being 6 starred by lvl 15 characters I had to resort to possibly the only possible challenge left - running Devils Assault with lvl 4 characters!

That does mean that someone with iconics and a crafter has an advantage indeed but there isnt anything I can do about that.
I wont be completely surprised if the best runs go as low as level 10 or maybe even lower - so having Vet2 might be enough.

I hope you do find the time to give it a go though and that others do as well.

You can do the quest without getting hit, so as low as you can go :P.

I had not seen that one but it does show that finishing within Vet II status isnt entirely impossible. Level 4 though... will that be you Eth?

You can do the quest without getting hit, so as low as you can go :P.

I hope that does not imply a bug so you can run the quest without any risk at all. That would make me a sad panda.

Everyone will abuse safe spot anyways and do some kind low level artie or warlock.
Dont get this challenge and the evening one to be honest.
Those 2 were rather bad choices.

Its heroic only as you cannot enter epics with heroic level characters. Not legitimately anyway.

Ignoring such cheating the reason for this round`s choice has already be given in a previous post of mine. Anything else has simply proven to be too easy. If you believe you have a better format I can only encourage you to run an event at some point - preferably at a time where DDO is largely in waiting mode as has been the case with this one (except for the very end where Warlocks came out).

there is no better format, actually. i think you did a really great job on this challenge, i had so much fun thinking of builds and ways to run it, even though i literally got disintegrated out of this challenge so bad, lol
it showed me, what powerful things i can do, that i did not know of and how strong an arti-splash/build is in low levels

to give points for challenges is kinda tricky, maybe including challenges was no good idea afterall, since they're quite difficult to give points on, but it turned out well. and don't be mad about safespots or other forms of 'cheating', noone can know it all. i didn't know about a safespot in devil assault till now and i've been running it alot pre-U14.

also, one cannot blame you, for setting up such a big event all by yourself and missing out on a few minor details. i don't think that there are alot of people, taking that much time to set up an experience like this just so others can have the fun! i really respect the huge ammount of work you've put into this and thank you for all the fun i had participating :-)

Thanks, I am having and have had a lot of fun setting it up and organising it - and its no major hassle for me to do so.

Hopefully some more people might consider taking a shot at this last round even if the winning spots in the competition are not within reach
I might if I find the time.

I honestly thought it would be Stealer of Souls (SoS) as the final round, imo the pound for pound hardest heroic quest at level with defeating Sorjek as a bonus. Not sure why Devil Assault was the choice especially since everyone would then have to reroll/regear and everything that goes with that process. GL to all who try and to those who complete.

But SoS requires reflagging, doesn't it? Really tough to try many times for better scores.
Plus, Devil Assault can be played by much lower characters than 4 levels lower meaning it's a real challenge.
Also, everyone that has competed has rerolled/regeared their characters several times + used an impressive amount of resources like healing pots and sp pots. So, it's nothing different really.

No to your first part. I did pretty careful planning initially, knew how my build should end up, and I am still using the same toon. I am sure there are some others, though they may not run all rounds.

Second part holds true though - I did re-gear several times for some rounds (+2 stats all around in the first, +4 when I was lvl5, ...) and allotted some hefty amount of healing pots that were gathering dust on my mule account, plus some spare tomes. I am left with about last 300 Sovereign pots now. On the other hand, I have also about 150 XP pots of different sizes on the mule account as I used like 3 in all my lives so far. Not sure why I hoard them.
