Druid wildshape

Do I have to be proficient with the weapon when I wildshape to maximize the ab? I can't really tell if it happens in game while attack other than the big exclamation mark saying I am not proficient. I haven't played since update 20 and I could've swore it used to be like that: didn't have to be proficient.. got all the weapons benefits and no ab penalty while wildshaped.

Yes: current to-hit formula is "(Player’s Attack Bonus + 10.5) / (Target’s Armor Class * 2) + 25%, rounded to nearest 5%." That "+ 25%" is your proficiency bonus; if you're not proficient with your currently equipped weapon, you don't get it, and that includes when shapeshifted.

ok thanks.. this means I'm going to switch out a lot of weapons right now.
