    Default Help! Major screen problem.

Hope someone can help, this is not fun. This just happened a few hours ago while I was actually playing the game...my screen suddenly started, and still is, flickering and jumping like crazy, constantly. Also fyi other than the flickering and jumping, about 80% of it is normal, but the other 20% on the left side is just solid blue. Since then, I ran PC matic, and it obviously did not fix it. I also checked connections, everything fine there. I restarted and did a system restore from earlier point, that didn't work either. I went to Control panel, adjust screen resolution, advanced settings, monitor, then screen refresh rate to adjust that...since I read somewhere to try that....well it is on 60 hertz and there Are no other options on the drop down to change it to. By the way, the computer is an HP Omni 100 PC which means it's one of those all in one...the monitor is part of the computer itself, all one unit, and it runs Windows 7 Home premium.

So I've tried everything I can think of, and I still have a screen that's going nuts, which makes writing this real fun The computer otherwise works fine, I can watch videos, it still flickers but not as bad when I go to full screen, but the game...no way. Other stuff, like writing this, reading anything, real nightmare. Anyway, since I have PC matic as mentioned I posted on their forum as well, about 20 views so far, but no replies, so apparently no one has a clue. So I thought, plenty of real smart computer people who play games including this one...perhaps someone will have a suggestion that will work other than what I've already tried. Would really like to have my computer back to normal and be able to play the game again. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am sorry to say that there are only three probable causes to your problem:

    1. Driver
    2. Monitor
    3. Video card/chip.

if it wasn't an all-in-one I'd be saying maybe a loose cable as well.

Hopefully it is still under warranty or you have an extended warranty.

Sounds like an actual video card problem.

The reason why it happens when you're playing a game like DDO instead of watching videos is because games usually tax the processor (GPU) on the video card way more than simple web surfing or video watching. What's probably happening is your GPU is heating way up and the small fan that's trying to cool it down just isn't working as well anymore. When you start seeing strange flickers, colors, and artifacts on your screen, that usually indicates an overheated video card.

Now it could be a bad monitor too but I highly doubt it. The best way to test would be to borrow a friend's monitor, connect it to your PC in place of your monitor, and see what happens. If things are still screwy, it's not a monitor problem.

    Good luck!

Could also be a dodgy cable. If you have a spare lead try a new one.
