    Default Dilletante: Warlock Feedback

    What we Half Elves get:

    Feat
    • Requires Charisma 13
    • For item purposes, you count as a level one Warlock in addition to any other classes you possess.
    • Toggle: You deal 1D4 extra Fire damage with attacks and spells. This trigger at most once every two seconds. This toggle is exclusive with Warlock Pact toggles

    Enhancements

    • Enhancement: Improved Dilletante: Warlock (1)
    • For item purposes, you count as a third level Warlock in addition to any other classes you possess.

    • Enhancement: Improved Dilletante: Warlock (2)
    • For item purposes, you count as a sixth level Warlock in addition to any other classes you possess.

    • Enhancement: Improved Dilletante: Warlock (3)
    • For item purposes, you count as a tenth level Warlock in addition to any other classes you possess.

    • Enhancement: Dilletante Ability
    • Charisma: You gain +1 Charisma

    • Enhancement: Dilletante Special Ability 1: Improved Spellcasting (1)
    • +3 Universal Spell Power

    • Enhancement: Dilletante Special Ability 2: Improved Spellcasting (2)
    • +3 Universal Spell Power

    Feedback
When I saw the dilletante feat, I thought this had a lot of promise, and now I realise that this is just another copy/paste throw-away design. The Major problems:

    • The damage doesn't scale. 1D4 damage can't be increased through further enhancements and Spell power doesn't seem to affect it either. Very, very poor in comparison to Rogue or Fighter, both of which can be scaled through Melee / Ranged Power.
    • There's a timer on proccing this. Why!? 1D4 isn't going to be a game breaker proccing on every attack or spell cast!
    • Buying the enhancements is a Admiral Ackbar sized "It's a Trap" situation. The first improvement of counting as a Level 3 Warlock still only allows you to cast spell level 1 Warlock scrolls! And the second improvement to Sixth level Warlock still only allows you to cast spell level 2 Warlock scrolls!

    • Since Scroll DC's are next to useless, there's a few useful scrolls in the list but nothing that an illerate Barbarian couldn't cast in epic levels anyway, or can't be geared for.
    • No one in there right mind would pay 2 AP for +3 Universal Spell Power.

    Issues
    • There's some small spelling/grammatical errors that need to be fixed.
    • Warlocks only get the option of Charisma for the Dilletante Ability, every other class has the choice of two stats.

    Suggestions
    • Scrap the cooldown on the feat, completely. Fix the scaling issue and allow it to benefit from Spellpower.
    • Drop the 'counts as Warlock level' from the feats and enhancements. It's boring and uninteresting. Instead, add:
      • Feat:
      • Improved Dilletante 1: You gain +2 UMD.
      • Improved Dilletante 2: Your pact damage increases to 2D4
      • Improved Dilletante 3: Your pact damage increases to 3D4

    • Drop the Improved Spellcasting Special Abilities. Again, boring, uninteresting, and
      • Dilletante Ability 1: Inhuman Nature: +5 MRR
      • Dilletante Ability 2: Soul Eater: Consume - Reduced to 1D6 damage, and ensure it either shares a cooldown with the actual Consume ability or is mutually exclusive.

That is... awful. Even if you take off the cooldown, it is still awful. Rogue dilettante gives 1d6 damage, and expand on it with more enhancements. While you can argue that sneak damage is not always on... after low heroics it is always on.

Remove the cooldown, and make it either 1d4 force or 1d6 fire, and scaling with Spell Power.

Par for the course, actually. Sorcerer dilettante have the same problem.

Wizard Dilettante also only have Intelligence as an option, but it is the only exception to the rule.

Par for the course, actually. This is shared with all casting classes, so it is not something specifically to "nerf" warlock dilettante.

In my suggestion thread about dilettante I tackled the same issue. It is an interesting part of the dilettante ability, but Turbine gives too much importance about it. I suggested change the second improved dilettante to consider you at class level equal to half character level.

Anyway, thanks for transcribing the abilities into the forum.

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

    Ewww. It doesn't scale?
    #MakeDDOGreatAgain

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

well, it does not scale BUT
You get access to a fairly large list of scrolls

the thief does scale but does not get access to scrolls, the sneak attack is basically it

and compared to sorc or druid, warlock Dil has them beat by a long shot
