With the recent confirmation that Holy Sword is going to be nerfed to uselessness, Paladins will once again become a dead class. Frankly I think it was incrediably dishonest of Turbine to promote changes to the game, get people to play a class then go and take back all the changes and ruin the class. I will continue to play DDO but I will be canceling my VIP subscription when they make changes to Paladin (and I assume Barbarian shortly). I won't support a company financially that engages in dishonest marketing practices.
I really don't see how DDO can afford to lose more players, but I see no other result from this decision. Paladin is one the most popular classes, are all those people who suddenly have useless Paladins going to keep playing? Yes, some will, but many won't. Just this Friday on Orien in primetime there were 3 LFMs, one for Gianthold Saga, one for Necro 4 and one for Vale flagging. These are the three prime questing lines for L16-18 characters on a prime questing night and none of the groups could get one person in them. There are not enough people on now, nerfing classes is certainly not the going to help that.
By association I really have lost all desire to play any new classes. What is the point in investing in a Barbarian now when they are going to take away the self healing making it once again an unplayable class? Why even start a rogue when mechanics will get nerfed because after Paladins and Barbarians become unplayable the mechanic machine guns will be firmly in the forum spotlights. And what's the point of even trying Warlock? If Warlock ends up having an ability that is remotely fun/good it will be whined about and nerfed.
No one likes being lied to and I really feel cheated by DDO who promised one thing then are taking it back after hours upon hours of time investment. You see we made a pact, you made changes to the class, you promoted those changes, I liked those changes and invested a lot of hours into that class. Now you change the rules? I am thoroughly disappointed and letdown by DDO.
