Default U48 Update Build 3 of 3 : Tiefling Enlightened Spirit Blaster

This is the 3rd of 3 updated U48 builds. Here are the other 2:

Dragonborn Max DC SE/TS Build for 10 Skull: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6384606

    Bladeforged Solo Mid-Skull SE/TS Build: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6384701

This build tries to strike a balance between defenses, dps and dc as soloing difficult content requires this. After several nerfs I avoided Enlightened Spirit, but it's become much more effective lately due to crit, spellpower and other stat inflation making weaknesses in the tree less impactful while the benefits are arguably more impactful as enemies continue to hit harder - causing PRR, hit points and more self healing to be more highly valued.

Compared to the Bladeforged build the DCs are lower, there are fewer instakill options, but AOE DPS is higher. Single-target DPS is decent enough for soloing mid-skulls and defenses and self-healing are both very very solid. Defenses and self-healing are better than the other 2 options as the build benefits from a 40% hit point boost, high prr/mrr and multiple self healing options including temporary hit points which aren't subject to reaper penalties. If you want to breeze through R4 solo fast without ever dying this is the build - it's also very simple to play.

Overall this build doesn't translate as well to R10 as the other 2 builds, but I would still be comfortable bring this build to a Ravenloft R10 or with a group I was familiar with.

One specific goal I had with this build was to minimize the use of raid items compared to the other build. I did include the Augment created with Litany of the Dead which comes from an older/easier raid. I also included the alchemical off-hand but include another option that is likely preferred in most cases anyhow - the legendary resplendent fury.

The build is more suitable to a character without many past lifes as the DC is less important.

    RACE
    : Tiefling

    Starting Stats
    Str: 8
    Dex: 8
    Wis: 8
    Con: 16
    Int: 16
    Char: 20 (All level ups)

PACT: Fiend. This is due to the ability to strip fire immunity with tiefling, synergies with tiefling and the extra instant kill ability that works on many enemies that can't otherwise be instakilled.

This build will use utterdark blast as the default stance due to better spellpower and better crit chance - especially when legendary resplendent fury orb is used.

Be aware that if you take advantage of this it might be necessary to later unslot filigree if SSG changes the way this works.

NOTE: I have been playing more in draconic incarnation more lately despite the lower DC. I am likely to switch this build to be be primarily in draconic incarnation rather than exalted angel, although exalted angel provides better self-healing.

    Total Conjuration DC: 114

Even with this lower DC evards and web are very successful. You still have finger of death, wail of the banshee and flesh to stone for low fort enemies, mass hold, hurl through hell and greater color spray for lower will enemies.

    Available DC Buffs:
    - Reaper potency (+3 DC)
    - Tainted spellcasting (+2 DC)

Other spell schools will be slightly less due to the net effect of differences with magister, gear and past lifes. Finger of Death is still quite effective on low fortitude save enemies.

    Spell Penetration:
    Warlock Levels: 20
Feat: Past Life Wizard and Favored Soul: 9
    Item: Enhancement Bonus: 9
    Item: Insightful Bonus: 5

    Piercing Spellcraft: 3
    Ship Buff: 1
Eye of the Beholder Set: 1
    Total: 58-61

This is a workable # considering I made very little investment since I have so many other tools against spell-resistant enemies - web, greater color spray, straight-up blowing things up with damage, etc.

    Tiefling Scoundrel Option
My guildy Kronovere runs a build similar to this but with tiefling scoundrel and fey pact. This requires a +1 heart to remove the bard level, but is a very effective option as it bases sonic spellpower on the higher of sonic and fire- so your sonic spells benefit from things like the burnscar sash. Ash imprisonment is also a very effective spell that works like flesh to stone but with a higher dc potential and tiefling scoundrel provides boosts to enchantment dc.

Hello, here is an updated version of the tiefling fiend SE/TS build with current gear. It's not a bad build and will work for soloing mid skulls. The reason I don't run this build anymore is that quite simply it's slightly worse in every way than bladeforged with the exception of fire spellpower and fire lore. Fewer hit points, less PRR, less MRR, less DC, bladeforged get a stacking 10% slashing damage reduction and I prefer Arcane Tempest over Divine Wrath. Taking empyrean magic is workable because of the other positive spells in Exalted Angel, but it doesn't fit in if you also want to take energy burst, meld into darkness and necromancy specialist as twists. The build could get by without meld into darkness prior to reaper changes, but with the introduction of doom reapers it's a must. In general things hit harder now so I find meld mandatory now where I used to consider it discretionary.

While I am a big fan of hurl through hell, I find absolute zero to be almost as good and the current gear just synergizes better with Calceri Storm. As always opinions are often based on playstyle preferences so you might get different results.

Please note you can't slot the same filigree in a single sentient item, but you can slot the same filigree in different sentient items and both will count toward the set bonus. It's unclear if this is working as intended, but I decided to post it here as this type of information isn't always accessible so I wanted to make sure people know. Be aware that if you take advantage of this it might be necessary to later unslot filigree if SSG changes the way this works.

Hey Slarden, thanks for posting this. It really helps. I do not own the new Fey Wild pack nor do I have a past life giving me access to Falconer, so I will have to modify it a little bit. The great thing is, I have a lot of the Sharn gear.

    * Note for heroic leveling I usually take command and wand & scroll mastery from tainted scholar + steal life force from soul eater. At level cap these abilities aren't needed, but they are helpful during heroic leveling.

If you don't have the 14 racial + 1 universal action point drop points from tainted scholar, then falconry and lastly the tiefling tree.

Note I am listing completionist, past life racial etc. A few DC difference won't make or break the build but I include these for completeness and I don't have everything on the list myself. I would try to get 3x past life half elf, tiefling and dragonborn for the +3 Cha and 3 racial AP as it's a reasonable return on investment. The reaper investment to get all DC, spell pen and charisma is high, but you can get the bulk of it for 14 ap if you need to spend some points in the defense tree for hp.

The DC increase from past lifes is only 3 so this build is possible without all the past lifes. The only catch would be spell penetration - if you don't have past lifes wizard and/or favored soul you likelly want to dump spell pen entirely and rely on web/tentacles against spell resistant mobs.

Note on spell DC: With all schools you can use Momento Reaper's Potency and Tainted Spellcasting for a quick bonus of 5 to DC. I use this frequently.

Please note you can't slot the same filigree in a single sentient item, but you can slot the same filigree in different sentient items and both will count toward the set bonus. It's unclear if this is working as intended, but I decided to post it here as this type of information isn't always accessible so I wanted to make sure people know. Be aware that if you take advantage of this it might be necessary to later unslot filigree if SSG changes the way this works.

wow someone is back with a bang - and having fun with the new content by the looks of these new gear sets Nice to see you found a place for plenty of the new stuff as my reading had suggested that folk were not overly fond of it. Personally i've loved what i've seen of the Feywild so far, though have very little gear to show for my efforts - never even seen a fey twisted chest. Interesting you've tried with the cold pact too - iirc i've never tried anything other than acid, largely due to the fact i've built for heroic rather than cap play I guess & acid seems to give the most flexibility for that. That GCS is every bit as good as you promised - to the extent I happily delay the tier 5's from SE to accommodate it in heroics. The always on shield is a nice grab in that Feydark tree too for those who don't get it from ES.

I am also confused by some of the discussion about feywild gear not adding anything. To put that in perspective I think alot of people consider 4 piece LGS set and even 1 more piece absolutely essential for a caster so gear tetris makes it hard to uprade. I used to run that long ago on this build, but what I find now is that it doesn't help me clear mobs any faster and the additional boss damage isn't worth all the other things I would have to give up.

Now with feywild it gets simpler since with 5 pieces I can get 20% hp, 25 PRR, 25 MRR and get so many other useful things. It seems many casters still prefer 4-5 LGS pieces but from the perspective of someone with diverse play patterns (solo, short-man, raid, join random groups) this works much better for me.

Acid is really good because the damage is based on will save and few things are resistant or healed by acid, but I think most of the pacts can be played well.

There are many things immune to cold during heroic leveling, but not as many at cap. I initially tried out fey pact using cold only for energy burst, but after weighing the benefits of cold vs. sonic (using a sonic spellpower/crit weapon) I decided on cold. Absolute zero is really good. It works much like hurl except it permanently freezes instead of kills (eventually the frozen thing does die). The great thing is that absolute zero works on many things that can't be hurled. It doesn't work on reapers, but it works on death-immune champs including oranged-named enemies.

It's really good, the combination of tentacles + greater color spray deals with virtually any mob. Fully meta'd tentacles is 59 and greater color spray is only 4. One of the reasons I like force damage over light damage for my main damage is that it synchronizes well with tentacles, arcane pulse, ruin and greater ruin. It also works when I swap to penetrating blast for golems and other force-resistant enemies.

I am in the process of updating the build.

The build has evolved continually since it was first created due to warlock nerfs, new races and trees, gear changes and other continual changes to the game. I haven't updated the build since before the magister changes so it was really getting out of date.

I was running tiefling fiend prior to the changes to magister when exalted angel was the best DC destiny in the game and self-healing in exalted angel was also top tier. The R10 build is now dragonborn due to the extra conjuration DC in the racial tree since warlock dps is less important in a balanced R10 party.

Currently exalted angel is behind magister in DC and tiefling isn't survivable enough in magister with just cocoon to solo mid skulls as easily (at least for me). The game DCs for newer content are based around magister making that older tiefling EA build a bit obsolete now.

The 3rd build which I am about to post is tiefling fiend but in enlightened spirit and conjuration/blasting focused. I think it's as good for soloing as the current bladeforged SE/TS build or the old Tiefling SE/TS build, but I have a slight preference for the SE/TS playstyle even though it's a little less forgiving and a little harder to play than an ES build. The SE/TS builds certainly scale better to R10 than ES.

Tiefling Fiend SE/TS in Exalted Angel is still viable - but it's lost ground relative to other builds do to the dc differences between magister and exalted angel.

As far as the R10 build goes you can easily substitute tiefling for dragonborn, but I think the Carceri Storm frozen footsteps is a great tool and ice storm is underrated as cc esp when you can combine it with sleet storm and salt LGS. The extra 3 DC for conjuration as a Dragonborn is what tips the scale for me.

If you don't have feydark illusionist you can spend more points in TS and other trees instead without losing much, but Greater Color Spray is really good.
Thanks for all the advice. This is probably the one thing that absolutely bugs me about the game, is the non-stop nerfing of builds and making them obsolete. I understand that they need to create new things, but for me, I don't have the time in my life to truly study builds and to tinker around with what works and what doesn't. I also don't have the time to go through to completionist. I like playing certain classes and try and make my toons the best that they can be with the time that I have to play, unfortunately that's just about when they update the game and make my toons only viable in LH...sometimes LE lol. Oh well.

Almost entirely solo here, hence why i place such a high value on CC. I'd like to try changing that a little in the coming year - it was less by choice & more perhaps through worrying about letting folk down or spoiling their fun. Aside from the nice bonuses to be had from Fey sets, i've heard it said that there are undisclosed ones to unlock also, maybe for having 5 or more pieces equipped? I don't have enough pieces to trial any of them, but hopefully in time as i'm a big fan of the Fey area in general.

I've seen a few discussions on pact choice, prompted by the addition of the 3 newer ones i guess. The only thing that stops me deviating from acid in heroics is the thought of having to regear for the new pact power. The common consensus seems to be that the cold one is clearly best of the 3 new ones, with those dots it gets helping boost the warlock's sub par boss damage. Yes i could see cold as being rough to level - so many undead especially in lower heroics. Not sure i relish the idea of picking & choosing quests based on my character's weaknesses. Clay golems & arcane oozes aside, acid has it very easy by comparison. We don't have a fey ring like yours though (cold & force power & crit) - iirc the one paired with acid is negative damage - ring of fall decay?.

Absolute zero sounds great fun yes - the ability to use it on those with DW is huge. I started out with sonic pact so got used to that no fail single target stop ability they have. The only pact ability i really use often from GOO is knock, but it's super convenient that one when it arrives & does manage most locks on heroic.

For reapers there is GCS Nothing i've tried even comes close to its effectiveness against those. The quick cooldown means it almost always is available if EBT is not & i noticed it triggers the extra SP from the fury orb too which is lovely. It might even help my inquisitive build, working off int & opening up sneak damage. [edit - wow i hadn't realized there was no save for GCS - i have a high DC in heroics boosted by illusion goggles & never tried it in epic levelling (nothing DC based works for me there) so was never aware of this issue - no wonder it's proved so effective for us all! I think as you mentioned in another thread, if it's adjusted to have a proper save with the same effects (ie opponents still stunned after being hit) we should still get plenty of mileage from it. I feel a little silly having geared for it now ]

I was thinking myself about force vs light of late as i've been finding stricken & consume to be pretty underwhelming in heroics, even fully metad. Dropping light would be one less power to gear for, but there's no equivalent insightful lore boost for force afaik, like there is for light with the coalesced coinage orb at level 6, then the fury at 15 & their epic equivalents. Light also goes well with the divine wrath AOE from EA - decisions...

Single target DPS. Taking out packs of mobs on the way to the end of a quest isnt too much an issue when playing a warlock, but its the end boss .. It ends up being a very long fight because there isnt much single target dps other than dots like stricken and consume, or more dots if your going cold pact, but then it gets impossible to keep all those dots all stacked up.. what do you do to help with dps on end fights to help the single target dps along?

This is what I do for up to R6 solo. I swap to LGS ooze for bosses in my off-hand.

First thing I usually do is stack 4 quick unmeta'd arcane pulse followed by a fully meta'd arcane pulse followed by a greater ruin.

Whenever greater ruin is off a timer I cast a fully meta'd arcane pulse and greater ruin (timer works out perfectly)

In between I cast consume, stricken, devour the soul (for MRR debuff), wave and my single target arcane blast. I will cast energy burst and arcane tempest as well when impactful enough.

Vulnerability on the boss from soul eater strickened blast quickly goes to 20 stacks and stays there. The boss MRR is reduced from the ooze weapon and devour (only 6 seconds on the devour debuff). Both of those help bring the boss down faster. I don't currently have feed on magic spec'd because I don't really need the sp except for a few quests, but that is an option if you need it to regenerate your sp during boss fights.

There are a few fights where I have to ddoor to use a shrine if soloing - Slavers part III for example.

If it ever seems like I am going through sp too fast I drop the greater ruin from the rotation once I am down to about 1000 sp.

Tiefling Solo Mid-Skull Enlightened Spirit Build: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6384776

This is the build I am currently using the most. I am running it on my 3rd main character. It's a build that tries to strike a balance between defenses, dps and dc as soloing difficult content requires this. The origin of this build is that I was looking for a way to solo in the magister destiny and wasn't finding cocoon sufficient due to the 12 second cooldown. I primarily solo, run in a regular 3-person group or join raids with this character. I've run the build in R10 groups and found the DCs and build performs well, but the sweet spot for this build is R4-R8 for a person that wants to solo/short-man reaper content quickly.

I've been running this build since magister update pulled it far ahead of all other destines for DC, but was hesitant to post it due to the lesser +1 requirement. I decided to post it, but also include 2 other builds I've run quite a bit that don't require the +1 heart. This is my favorite of the 3 because it's so versatile - works for soloing or R10 grouping.

    RACE
: Bladeforged (Requires +1 lesser heart to remove the paladin level)

    Starting Stats
    Str: 8
    Dex: 6
    Wis: 8
    Con: 18
    Int: 16
    Char: 18 (All level ups)

PACT: Carceri Storm (this was originally due to gear synergies but now I really love this pact)
Note: You can use other pacts by picking any spellpower for the alchemical orb, but it makes using off-hand swap weapons more Complex. Salt and Ooze LGS off-hand swaps synergize nicely with Carceri Storm due to the spellpower boost.

I prefer absolute zero to hurl through hell because it works on many things that are immune to death effects and I already have enough instant kill in the build. This is an amazing single target spell to deal with many enemies that can't be dealt with other ways. Arguably the most powerful pact ability available to warlock from any pact.

    GEAR

The most difficult choice I made with this build was giving up 1 charisma by choosing The Prince's Gauntlet for artifact over Sigil of Regalport which is very much against my nature, but it provided me with much better gearing choices and it makes cocoon more impactful for self-healing to compliment racial reconstruct. From a gearing perspective the build gives up 1 charisma and +2 sacred DC bonus compared to the max DC build.

As it turns out it worked out just fine because I would have required one more charisma epic destiny twist for the extra charisma to be impactful and I didn't have the room. In addition since pendant of bottled moonlight applies crushing despair automatically on a necro spell it debuffs all enemies with a -2 to all saves and -5 more to will save effectively making all my necro spells more effective. Compared to the max DC build this build gives up 4 charisma (2 DC) from race choice, 1 charisma by not choosing the sigil of regalport (.5 DC) and 2 DC by not choosing the gloryborn gloves for a total of 4.5 DC behind. However, since pendant of bottled moonlight automatically applies a -2 fortitude save to enemies that I target with a necromancy spell (and -7 will) my finger of death and wail is only a net 2.5 DC behind and my devour the soul is actually ahead due to the debuff. This seems like a reasonable trade-off to me for the self-healing and other benefits of this build.

One of the great benefits of pendant of bottled moonlight is that when you debuff the boss with devour the soul to reduce MRR you also debuff will saves by 7 ensuring that you are getting max dps as the cold damage goes against a will save. Don't get me wrong, Warlock single-target dps is absolutely weak and needs a buff by the devs, but this helps make it as good as it could be.

In fact if anything I am likely to try and fit pendant of bottled moonlight into the R10 build by using the +22 charisma ring and black satin waist.

Off-Hand Swap Weapons: LGS Triple Positive (hp boost), Salt (CC), Ash/Dust,Ooze (Debuff)

Note: Salt and Ooze synergize well with the pact since they also add a stacking 187 glaciation spellpower. Salt is used more for cc and ooze is used to help with boss debuffing and boss dps on this build.

    Set Bonuses

    - Embraced By the Light 2 Piece: +5 Healing Amp
    - Sanctified Fervor 2 Piece: +5 Healing Amp
    - Reverberation 2 Piece: Melee and Missle Damage (not applicable to this build)

Please note you can't slot the same filigree in a single sentient item, but you can slot the same filigree in different sentient items and both will stack and count toward the set bonus. It's unclear if this is working as intended, but I decided to post it here as this type of information isn't always accessible so I wanted to make sure people know since this feature is heavily used by end-game players (well over 50% that I know use it). Be aware that if you take advantage of this it might be necessary to later unslot filigree if SSG changes the way this works.

    FEATS:

    1) Maximize
    3) Empower
    6) Completionist (or past life wizard or enlarge)
    9) Quicken
    12) Spell Focus Necromancy
    15) Enlarge (or past life wizard)
    18) Force of Personality
    21) Adamantine Plating
    24) Embolden
    26) Epic Arcane Eldritch Blast
    27) Ruin
    28) Mass Frog (because it works on some things well even with a lower dc - esp undead and constructs)
    29) Arcane Pulse
    30) Greater Ruin
    30) Scion of the Plane of Shadowfell

This is what I found optimal for soloing. Conventional wisdom would say take past life wizard instead of force of personality which I don't completely disagree with. the R10 build for balanced groups makes this exact choice. Force of Personality takes my save from 100% fail to 95% succeed and is much more impactful when soloing vs. 1 DC. I am willing to give up enlarge for the DC when soloing but am keeping enlarge in the build for now.

    Self-Healing in Reaper
One of the main reasons I am running this build for soloing and short-manning is because of the self-healing. My crit chance for reconstruct is 60% and I am seeing the following #s on each of the following difficulty settings:

In Each case the first # is the non-crit and the second # is the crit #.

    Epic Elite: 1223/6653
    R1: 1223/2814
    R2: 1130/2600
    R3: 1004/2311
    R4: 907/2086
    R5: 777/1788
    R6: 648/1490
    R7: 518/1192
    R8: 388/894
    R9: 259/596
    R10: 129/298

Self-healing is comfortable for soloing through R6. After R6 it gets tougher to solo because of the lower self-healing #s combined with doom reapers, but with 1 or 2 more people in the party R8 feels much more comfortable to self-heal in because there is so much less aggro to deal with.

Even on R10 the quick combination of reconstruct and cocoon gets you close to 500 hit points back fast without having to wait for someone to rescue you.

Here are the reconstruct #s which can go up with buffs and other abilities during a quest:

    Spell Critical - Reconstruct
    Magical Training: 5
    Enhancement Bonus: 32 (Orb)
    Exceptional Bonus: 15 (Docent)
Eldritch Seeker - Soul Eater: 5
Spell Tearing - Soul Eater: 3
    Total: 60%

    Spellpower - Reconstruct
    Equipment Bonus: 219
    Insightful Bonus: 77
    Exceptional Bonus: 30
    Implement Bonus: 29
    Filigree: 10
    Mythic and Reaper Bonuses: 4
    Epic Power: 60
Scion of the Plane of Shadowfell: 30
    Tainted Spellcasting Passive: 20
    Soul Eater Cores: 30
    Reaper Tree: 48
    Feydark Illusionist: 6
    Tome: 4
    Ship Buffs: 15
    Repair Skill: 91
    Arcane Hymn: 20
Commendation of Valor Potion: 25 (It lasts 10 minutes so there is no reason for me not to run this continuously)

    Total: 718
Hey! Could I run this build without the 15 enhancements bonus points? I have no racial past lives. Can you let me know what enhancements are not critical?
    Thank you!

The first thing I would drop is the 11 points in feydark illusionist. It's a nice complement to tentacles, but tentacles on it's own works fairly well and you still have mass hold and other cc spells to work with. Next I would drop the quality hp bonus and con from bladeforged. If you need to drop another point I would likely drop the charisma from tainted scholar since you lost a charisma from feydark illusionist - so that keeps you at an even #. There are other options available, but I wouldn't give up too much in tainted scholar because the 4th core gives a 20% crit damage boost and penetrating blast is key against certain enemies to get around damage reduction - most notably golems.

    Default Thanks Slarden!

As I find myself acquiring more gear and lives and finally being able to get past DCs I'm starting to lean less towards my easymode warlock and more towards this playstyle.

Having this thread full of information really helps as I plan my next life. Still not sure if I'm going to stick with GOO or go with Abyss pact for the self healing, but either way, much appreciated!

My last week life was pure pali, this life I am running one of my favorite inqui bard builds.

All I do now is think while running both lives has been, man this would be easier and more fun as a warlock

Warlock is the only class that I can play that I can switch into what feels like an entirely different playstyle by an enhancement reset. All the feats and stats and skills can stay the same but if I just hit that button and spend a bit of plat all of the sudden I'm out of whatever funk I happen to be in and I'm enjoying the game again. The spells that warlock gets do exactly what I need without caveats. Firewall and Disco ball? Nah, just evards. Insta-kills? I got those for daysssss. Slow everything down because my DCs are garbage? Faltering Blast and LGS salt babyyyy.

Spell point conservation is also huge. I don't have to use all my spell points to kill bosses or do damage. I never have to worry that I'll suddenly not be useful and I can mindlessly spam my damage stuff like I'm a melee or ranged character.

And having an eTR be the difference between pacts is super great too. I really loved both GOO and Fey and being able to massively change how I play without doing a full TR and having to trudge through heroics again is awesome.

    Default U48.4 Update Build 1 of 3 : R10-Focused Build

Quick Summary of Changes from U48 to U48.4
The build didn't change much from U48 to U48.4 but since I received a question in chat I thought it would be beneficial to update the build to be current. Here is what changed from U48 to present
    • Festive Charisma augment was added which is a straight-up upgrade that fits into the build perfectly with no gear swaps
    • Magewright set was adjusted twice. Current set bonus is giving +4 stat bonus and +4 DC consistently on gear description, buff bar and in actual bonus given.
    • Epic Eldritch Blast and Epic Arcane Eldritch Blast feats have been upgraded from 3d6 base dice and 4d6 base dice to 7d6 base dice and 6d4 pact dice. The epic arcane eldritch blast feat was always easy to fit in, but the epic eldritch blast is much more compelling now even on an R10-focused build. I am going to list it as an alternative to epic spell penetration since there isn't much content where spell penetration is requires and the dps may be a better even on R10. I personally plan to take it, but I understand some want to focus solely on DCs and will instead take epic spell penetration.

    Build

This is the first of 3 builds I will be providing as part of the U48.4 Update. This first build is not a solo build - it's meant to be part of a balanced R10 group. The build sacrifices defenses and dps for max DC, but in a balanced party can still contribute free eldritch blast dps as needed - and I would expect significant debuffing in an R10 making those #s much larger.

Here are the other 2 - both are very suitable for soloing:

    Bladeforged Solo Mid-Skull SE/TS Build

Tiefling Solo Mid-Skull Enlightened Spirit Build

    RACE
: Dragonborn (Tiefling is also a solid choice)

    Starting Stats
    Str: 10
    Dex: 6
    Wis: 14
    Con: 16
    Int: 12
    Char: 20 (All level ups)

PACT: Carceri Storm (this is more due to gearing flexibility)
Note: Other pacts work fine here but you will rely on the spellpower from the off-hand meaning you will need a double weapon swap when switching to lgs vs. just swapping the off-hand weapon during boss fights. Carceri storm is the simple choice because of the winter ring which basically covers cold and force. In addition I find Absolute Zero to be the single best pact ability available - esp for a DC-focused warlock as it works on everything hurl works on but it also works on most death immune enemies as well (except fire-based orange names or fire-based deathwarded enemies).

    GEAR

Gearing has become more constrained, but with inflated #s. Specifically a sacred bonus to DC was added, but only 1 item exists with that bonus tying up gloves on all max dc builds (and excluding some sets). In addition, an alchemical off-hand provides +2 alchemical bonus and a +9 necromancy dc bonus. Again the +2 alchemical bonus is completely unique. In addition, with Sigil of Regalport being the obvious artifact choice for the +2 quality DC bonus and +22 charisma - yet another spot is locked. Lastly once you exclude all these spots the only option for profane DC bonus +2 is the legendary shattered onyx ring which also adds +10 insightful charisma. So effectively 5 slots are non-discretionary with a charisma max DC build and once you rule out set bonuses using these slots the most obvious choice for set bonus is the magewright set which is supposed to provide a +4 charisma and +4 spell DC bonus but isn't working as intended yet. For purposes of this build I am going to assume it will be fixed soon and post the "as intended" numbers.

Note: Pendant of Bottled Moonlight is really good and I am likely to try and fit this into the build without giving up any DC. Pendant of Bottled Moonlight casts a crushing despair that automatically succeeds when targeting an enemy with a necro spell.

Necklace: Sigil of Regalport - Cha 22, Quality Spell Focus 2, Wizardry 481, Cold absorb 53%
Trinket: Slavers Crafted - Sheltering 45 (for MRR), Radiance Lore 27, Heal 22, Quality PRR 11)
Cloak: Legendary Magewright's Cloak - Wizardry 453, Quality Charisma 5, Enchantment Focus 9, Insightful Enchantment Focus 5

Boots: Legendary Deepsnow Boots - Insightful Constitution 10, Quality Constitution 5, Freedom of Movement, Fort Save 17
Ring 2: Legendary Ring of Winter - Ice Lore 31, Glaciation 214, Kinetic Lore 31, Impulse 214
Bracers: Legendary Hallowed Castigators - Devotion 214, Healing Lore 31, Insightful Sheltering 27
Armor: Chainmail of the First Snow (Feytwisted) - Physical Sheltering 54, Fortification 214, Healing Amplification 85, False Life 81

Main Weapon: The Legendary Prince's Sceptre - Spell Focus Mastery 7, Insightful Spell Focus Mastery 4, Spell Penetration 9, Insightful Spell Penetration 5
    Off-hand Weapon: Alchemical Large Shield - <Spellpower 219>, <Spell Lore 32>, Alchemical Charisma +2, Necromancy Focus 9

Main-Hand Swap Weapon for Boss Fights and when spell pen not needed: The Legendary Queen's Sceptre
Off-Hand Swap Weapons: LGS Triple Positive (hp boost), Salt (CC), Dust (Debuff), Ash (Debuff), Ooze (Debuff)

There is a learning curve to understanding when it's better to use Salt in off-hand vs. having more DC from alchemical. Use Salt until you've mastered it. Salt is less impactful on a high-DC build but still situationally extremely useful.

Note: Dust and Ooze synergize well with the pact for slightly higher cold spellpower (tier 2 quality and tier 3 exceptional), but aren't critical.

Of special note: This gear provides 2 set bonuses, the magewright set bonus (+4 to casting stats and +4 artifact bonus to DC). The 4-piece winter set also provides 25PRR, +15 stacking healing amp and 20% hp bonus. So while this build is not tank, it's not a glass cannon either.

    FILIGREE

Please note you can't slot the same filigree in a single sentient item, but you can slot the same filigree in different sentient items and both will count toward the set bonus. It's unclear if this is working as intended, but I decided to post it here as this type of information isn't always accessible so I wanted to make sure people know. Be aware that if you take advantage of this it might be necessary to later unslot filigree if SSG changes the way this works.

The next 2 builds are solo builds with lower DC, but more balanced builds with better dps and defenses. I will note while I run alot more R6-R8 than R10 I've brought solo builds to R10 and it performed fine. That small difference in DC doesn't come up much when targeting enemy low saves.

    Default U48.4 Update Build 2 of 3 : Bladeforged Mid-skull Solo Build

The epic arcane eldritch blast feat was always easy to fit in, but the epic eldritch blast is now a must on any build not solely focused on R10 grouping. To fit it in I dropped ruin and greater ruin and added epic arcane eldritch blast and past life wizard. I used Greater Ruin in my 15 second rotation but not ruin - it was just required for Greater Ruin. I am not 100% convinced this is the right answer and may revisit it - although in many solo R6 quests I need to stop using greater ruin at some point due to spell point issues, so it seems like the best choice for now.
    • Salt and Ooze LGS weapons should be adjusted for tiers 1 and 2. Tier 1 should be changed to Negative Energy Absorb or Strength (int is slotted on goggles). Tier 2 should be quality cold spellpower and tier 2 should remain exceptional cold spellpower.

    Build
This is the 2nd of 3 updated U48 builds. Here are the other 2:

Dragonborn Max DC SE/TS Build for 10 Skull

Tiefling Solo Mid-Skull Enlightened Spirit Build

This is the build I am currently using the most. I am running it on my 3rd main character Randlen.

An alternative to bladeforged would be running dragonborn in exalted angel. I wouldn't recommend running in magister solo except on bladeforged.

    FEATS:

    1) Maximize
    3) Empower
    6) Completionist (or past life wizard)
    9) Quicken
    12) Past Life Wizard (no need for sf necromancy with U51)
    15) Adamantine Plating
    18) Force of Personality
    21) Epic Eldritch Blast
    24) Embolden
    26) Epic Arcane Eldritch Blast
    27) Ruin
    28) Mass Frog (because it works on some things well even with a lower dc - esp undead and constructs)
    29) Arcane Pulse (Deific Warding if you are prr and mrr challenged)
    30) Greater Ruin
    30) Scion of the Plane of Shadowfell

This is what I found optimal for soloing. Conventional wisdom would say take a DC feat instead of force of personality which I don't completely disagree with. the R10 build for balanced groups makes this exact choice. Force of Personality takes my save from 95% fail to 95% succeed and is much more impactful when soloing vs. 1 DC. Enlarge isn't quite as critical on this build as it is on most DC builds and I may replace it in the future.

    About Arcane Pulse
One of the comments I hear most is that Arcane Pulse is a weak choice and even "newb trap" for a level 29 feat compared to Deific Warding. I don't think Deific Warding is a bad choice for survivability, but the weakness of a warlock is single-target DPS and arcane pulse helps with that. I usually start my boss fights with 4 unmeta'd arcane pulses followed by normal 15 second rotation. Metamagic on arcane pulse is applied based on the most recent cast so this reduces sp to get your 5 stacks while not losing damage. 3d6 + 6 stacking 5 times doesn't sound super good as 15d6 +30 is only 142.5 damage per tick before multipliers for 8 ticks - a total of 1,140 single target damage for one cast every 15 seconds. The alternative would be one more eldritch blast. Eldritch blast at 20 is 6d6 base dice + 10d6 pact dice. This build improves that with the two epic feats, 4 pact dice from tainted scholar and 1 more 1d6 base dice from penetrating blast for a total of 14d6 base dice + 20d4pact dice for a total base damage before multipliers of 99. Eldritch blast benefits from 130% scaling with spellpower so this brings the total to 128.7. So one cast of arcane pulse with max stacks does the equivalent of nearly 9 eldritch blasts not including the extra 225 spellpower you get on arcane pulse with metamagic.

    So my 15-second rotation is:
Greater Creeping cold (meta'd) [Base damage is 360 and it benefits from metamagic so roughly 3 eld blasts per cycle - I drop from rotation against enemies highly resistant, e.g., golems]
    Arcane Pulse (meta'd)
    Consume (meta'd)
    Stricken (meta'd)
    Eldritch Wave (meta'd)
    Blast away until next rotation

Every other rotation I add the following 3 things since energy burst and arcane tempest are on 30-second cooldowns
    Arcane Tempest
Devour the Soul (for stacking 20 MRR and 20 PRR debuff that lasts 6 seconds)
    Energy Burst

If it seems like your pact damage is a bit low it means the enemy has a high will save. You can cast a crushing despair to debuff will saves a bit. The necklace automatically casts crushing despair when you cast devour the soul debuff, but the duration is really short on the proc.

I previously used Greater Ruin in the 15 second rotation to speed up boss fights but dropped it since it doesn't benefit from debuffs or vulnerability and I often run out of spell points too quick soloing R6 with greater ruin. Since I use Ash LGS in my off-hand during boss fights I have the following debuffs going during boss fights.

    - Strickened Form (Vulnerability)
    - Ash LGS (20 MRR debuff)
    - Devour the Soul (6 second 20 MRR 20 PRR debuff for energy burst, arcane tempest and dots that go off during that duration)

Some people swap between Ash and Ooze for more stacking of debuffs - I find this to be a dps loss on a warlock as you lose attacks. swapping debuffers works better with a traditional casting class, but due to warlock animations it's not effective unless you are specifically assigned to cycle-debuff with ash, ooze and dust. I have also been considering twisting in bound fate from fatesinger for the extra 12% magic debuff but haven't pulled the trigger because I am not sure what to drop.

For the 15 second rotation I just wait for several seconds after stricken is off cooldown - not perfect but it seems like an accurate enough way to do it.

So deific warding would give me close to 1% more magic damage reduction with max stacks and less than 1% for physical damage with max stacks. I find arcane pulse much more impactful to give my boss damage a boost. Your mileage may vary - if staying alive during boss fights is your major problem deific warding may be a strong consideration.

One quest I keep hearing that is difficult for people is Witch Hunt. It is super easy on this build and arcane pulse makes it that much easier since the dotted boss runs back to you 99% of the time so you don't have to chase. Very rarely she gets stuck and you have to chase. For the goblins that spawn - devour the soul and absolute zero - if they are on a timer throw tentacles + greater color spray + arcane tempest - cakewalk.

    -Arcane Tempest

    About Arcane Tempest
Arcane Tempest is flat-out one of the most underutilized and underappreciated epic SLAs in the game. Energy burst does 1d15+15 per character level which comes out to 690 damage before multipliers and has a reflex save. Arcane Tempest does damage over time to an area of effect equal to 1d6+6 per caster level every 2 seconds for 10 seconds so assuming 25 caster levels - 237.5 5 times or 1,187.5 with no save before multipliers. This SLA has the same positioning as tentacles so the way I like to use it is to throw arcane tempest over tentacles on a mob and it melts them. If you don't have the extra point due to tome I would strongly consider dropping 1 charisma for arcane tempest. The damage is significant enough that I use this on bosses during boss fights. For boss fights I don't tend to use devour the soul as a debuff during my normal rotation instead when energy burst and arcane tempest are off a timer I cast arcane tempest, then devour the soul and then energy burst as part of my normal 15 second rotation. Since the cooldown is longer I end up using this every other time in my 15 second rotation. Arcane Tempest is force damage and not physical damage like Greater Ruin so it benefits from debuffing and vulnerability.

The ddowiki indicates sigil of battering spellcraft is a prerequisite to take arcane tempest. This is incorrect - no such requirement exists in-game.

    Enhancement Bonus: 32 (Alchemical Off-Hand)
    Exceptional Bonus: 15 (Docent)
Eldritch Seeker - Soul Eater: 5
