So when you suggest guild system revamps, please bear in mind, Turbine will be looking at the numbers and the cash flow. Let's start with OP suggestions.
    Thank you for your feedback.

MyDDO was horrible and didn't even come close to doing what it was supposed to, let alone what it should have done. OK, maybe I was a little too harsh on MyDDO. Loved it for what it did.

It isn't just me that wants this. Ask any guild leader, and the majority will agree with this.

Player housing will (probably) never happen. It got scrapped because of the ROI/CBA required too much upfront investment of precious resources that would probably never be recouped, let alone make them money. This is the same reason they will not probably ever do another expansion, at least for another 5 years.

As far as generating money - this does - it promotes player retention -- especially the new players who leave after a couple levels of starting to play; mostly because they lack mentors and guidance. These new players do not find a guild or even worse, are scooped up by spamming junk guilds who just chew them up and spit them out and make them rage quit.

More new players sticking around means more turbine points spent and even better: the real gold - positive third party marketing via social media because most of these new players are social media savvy.

As far as adverting / recruiting - there is no sanctioned in game way to do this. There is certainly no in-game way to research a guild. If you say forums or other private site - less than 10% of the players even go to the forums, even less for new players.

Anything new that is added will most certainly use a newer, highly optimized data system - heck even maybe sql. Most of the stuff that you claim will bog down the servers doesn't even load until you click on the tab/sub tab (just like now).

Agreed. if anyone can find a current list of all the guilds on each server here on the forums, I would love to see it. I have played a couple of other MMOs that had a guild system, and they at least had a list of guilds with the current leader that anyone could access in game. not having at least that much just seems like a bad idea for trying to keep new players around.

First read thru ~ overall its very well written and very interesting.

The two things that stood out most for me that should be fairly easy to implement would be:

    1) Consider creating two more LMF tabs ~ one simply for Guild recruitment type grouping, and one for trading. Since these would be separate tabs surely they would not be illegal spam anymore. Also, please make it so we can hide all LFMs if desired like we can search for nothing on the who is online page.

    2) Guild Calendars ~ allow a Guild area that clicks out a 4 week calender. Allow any officer to edit a 256 letter note page for each of those days on the current calendar. Each Sunday the week before drops out and a new week is added. Each Day would have a short title and by clicking on it you could see what details were there.

Will have to reread and post later on.

    A well described, cogent point.

Without my Guild I would not be playing. On Wayfinder the ability to find a group using the Grouping tab is, shall we say, constrained. It is primarily the ability to group with my Guildmates which keeps the game from being just a solo game that happens to have other people also playing solo that I run past in the public areas.

I'd like to add a feature request: There needs to be a way to track the guild chest deposits and withdrawals. The Guildmaster or the Guildmaster and Officers, or someone, needs to be able to see this information. It shouldn't be difficult, I get notified on /General in every dungeon run who looted what from a chest, after all.

Agree on the Guild Vault Log --- it was a very long post. :P The image doesn't show it, but officers can see the WHO as well as the what.

Second Part is the Guild Vault Log: shows who added, or removed (or used) platinum, astral shards and items from the guild vault.

As far as guild lists, how about a button that when clicked by an officer makes a preset guild ad pop up in a new guild tab. The officer that clicked on the button becomes the contact. The officer can edit the short ad. When the officer logs out, the ad is removed from the "list of active guilds ad area."

One can search thru said listing, and even search for nothing thereby removing the listings just as one could remove all available players listing by searching for nothing.

Players could fulfill the finding part on their own, with a little push.
A tip in Korthos ,to use the Message in the Whos online Tab for Guild finding! Leaders would only have to scroll the list to see if anyone wanted to join their style/lvl guild. All this would of course lead to the Krack ship wielders getting even more of the new recruits...but that is where the lame airships lead us from the start.
The Guild info idea is pretty cool, ill let you all thinktank that..the preview screens looked promising.

Already there. just the ad persists even when the author isn't online; but the ad does show officers online who can recruit. This is done through the Guild Details pop up off the find guild tab on the social panel.

I know - very Very VERY long posting.

Neverwinter Nights Online (NWO) has a great way of doing this. It is on their social panel.

It should be relatively easy to add a 'FIND GUILD" tab to the existing social panel.

Should be able to search for guild by name, or using criteria like language, play style, social group, gender, race, time zone. All of these criteria the guild leaders should be able to set, including the ability to NOT appear on the 'find guild' list.

    Example from NWO:

Once a search is executed, a player (even one in a guild) should be able to pull up a details popup which needs to include:
A recruitment / information statement, a listing of the criteria tags, and a listing of guild members on who may invite (Anonymous users would appear as anonymous - but a tell still would go through (???)).

Yes, I agree coupling this with a new or existing NPC near the dock in Korthos (or by Baudry in the lower harbor) encouraging players to open their social panel up to the 'Find Guild' tab and seeing how to find a guild would be beneficial.

Yes, many of the supersized guild with the ultimate ships would be able to mass recruit, but many don't want that many more members. Heck I know of guilds that are booting players to keep from having a red name. And on the other foot, many players don't want to be a minion - rather want to belong to a more intimate guild.

Sorry, all I read was the first page and not all the responses, the but idea looks like it would rock.

Just as an easier, minimal investment first step, it would make sense to give more space for the MotD and have one extra field (guild description) that the leader could set that would be displayed when you hover over a guild name on the who list.

Those two would go far towards helping people organize their guilds easier. The internal field, with the expanded MotD could give the scheduling and all, and the outward-facing guild description could include the website and who-to-contact-to-join if a guild wanted that information public.

Anything that helps players find guilds (IN GAME and EASILY and INFORMED) is a good thing for the game.

Anything that helps guilds manage and exist (IN GAME) and promote the game - is a good thing for the game.

    First time i've clicked that little link in your sig;

anywho, While some of these are interesting ideas I don't generally see many of them being used all that often.

The one thing I would really enjoy having is an expanded guild ranking. There was in beta a system to be implemented where-in guild leaders could create their own ranks and rank titles.
There are still some tatters of that in the game actually if you /help. Not entirely sure why or when that was axed but I don't recall ever seeing that on live.

Obviously I can't list every single Guild but I've done my best for the two Servers I spend the most time on:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...th-Guild-Index lists every Guild I know of on Cannith of Lvl 35 and higher!

and though I spend far less time on Sarlona:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...ona-s-100-Club lists every Guild I know of on Sarlona of Lvl 80+ and a number Guilds of Lvl 59-79 too. It would list more but I simply can't keep up!

As for the other Servers...I maintain the https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...-List-Lvl-175+ which actually counts all Guilds of at least Lvl 160.

    And

    I maintain the https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...ld-List-Lvl-75

But I can't be everywhere at once, I need time to actually play the game myself!

Khyber, G-Land, Orien, Thelanis and Argo I can't help you with!

The guild is the main reason I play. It is the ice breaker to meet new people in the game.

I commend you on your efforts!

With that said, this stuff needs to be in game and automatic, hence the reason for a completed GMS. So you would have even more time to play!

I see this every day here on the forums and in game. We need a GMS that is completed.
