I would plant the device in a quest where stealth is required -

Enter the Kobold - Distract the Kobolds with some really weird children's programming - one of the channels I found has the odd effect of fascinating and further lobotomizing the brains of those who watch it.

Temple of elemental Evil - Put on an infomercial program that entails some scheme to concoct enchanted artifacts via combining several potions into one dish, and then lining the walls of the Microwave with Peanut Butter. Then, the diamonds and other gems come out!

Haunted Halls of Eveningstar - use the DVD slot in the TV to put on a show depicting an actor who resembles Rivior, and then deploy that near the ghosts so they think Rivior has given them new orders!

Considering the nature of the Eberonn world, I think most would be impressed with House P's new entertainment efforts. Others would be afraid that the device works both ways.

If it was my 1st Ed AD&D Cleric/Illusionist, her answer would be: "Amateurs..." before creating a full sensory illusion with her imaginary friend providing entertainment. (Her imaginary friend is an anthropomorphic cockroach named Buggsy who somehow turns up in many of her illusions. Beware of illusionists with imaginary friends...) If she decided to cast "alter reality" things could get even weirder.

What would a DDO adventurer do if they somehow saw a television with a cartoon on it?
    They would be thinking:
"How many TP does it cost to get this new companion?"

Default What would a DDO adventurer do if they somehow saw a television with a cartoon on it?

The vast majority of adventurers would smash a television within 5 to 60 seconds of finding it, regardless of class.

A small percentage of adventurers would check the device for traps, then take it. Since a portable television only runs for a few hours at most, they would soon have an interesting but inert box. Some would keep it, some would sell it, but none would understand it.

A very, very tiny percentage of highly intelligent adventurers would realize the extreme value of the device and attempt to reverse engineer it. Given access to sufficiently powerful informational magics, this could bring worlds of magic and technology into contact, leading to a universe changing paradigm shift.

Be puzzled for a moment by the illusion, then come to the following decision:
'It's a box, therefore it must be smashed!'

My characters would probably try to activate the device called "TV". Hoowever, without knowing a power source to power the TV, Eberronians would attempt to make sure of an elemental engine... Probably an air elemental engine with electricty. Without proper power, the TV would blow up; and the Eberron mages say hey, "This is better than fireball!", new form of electrical storm? Better than half-elven magic!
