    Default Mid-High Level Heavy Armor?

I recently TR'd my intimitank and the only named heavy armors I have are the Scavenged Warplate (the old version before augments) at level 4, and Fullplate of Giants (old version) at level 10. And then Epic Emerald Guard at level 27. Is there any good armor I can use between 10 and 27? I'm looking specifically for heavy armor, not medium. Preferably with DR/-, too.

Also, a question regarding DR. Is there another way to DR/-? I hate that I have to give up my DR 5/- when switching from Fullplate of Giants, but I pretty much have to if I want to keep high AC and PRR.

for lv10 - you can get the lv10 version of Gianthold DragonScale Armors... really good until lv14 and you can wear Dragonscale.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Heavy_armor (from that list - can be sorted by level)

    some like: Firebreak (Level 17)
    Beholder Plate Armor
    Argenti's Armor
    Cavalry Plate (Level 12)
    Dragoncraft Plate Armor
    Stonemeld Plate Armor

as far as DR/5 is concerned - work on upping your PRR MRR instead since 5 points of damage reduction is not very helpful after level 10 or so. However, if it is made of Adamantine it should be DR/3 automatically.

or - and don't forget dragontouched armor.

    1. Try to get an DR off-item. (eg: Bloodrage Symbiont)
    2. Armors:
    - The C challenges heavy armor 16/14 @ Tier3 with an MC shard is solid
    - Beholder Plater Armor with Displacement Proc (if you play at level it procs a lot!)
    - Dragon Touched Armor is probably too grindy these days, but its still an opportunity to slot +6 stats, and other useful effects into gearset.

The Mournlode Fullplate (ML16) can't be crafted on. Bugged. But it's still excellent. Good AC, nice traits on it, and procs Heal on you. The Epic version is even better.

Firebreak (even the ML15 version) is also excellent. The amount of protection from fire damage it gives you is amazing when combined with MRR, particularly if you have a good Tower Shield. I suggest Levik's Defender, from Hound of Xoriat. Could even use that thing until Purple Dragon Shield.

My paladin, from 15 to 26, ran in either Firebreak (heroic or epic, depending on level) or Mournlode Fullplate, then switched to Shadow Dragonplate. Have a suit of Epic Black Dragonplate, but tended to get better results overall from the Mournlode. That Healer's Bounty proc is exceedingly valuable (and unlike a Golem's Heart aug, it doesn't supercharge flesh golems.)

I like to use Firebreak, switching to the higher level versions as I am able. I pretty much use Firebreak from 15 until I can put my Shadowscale back on. Strap on Bastion and you're gtg

Cannith crafting is the way to go IMHO.

In the early lvls a piece of armor with 'invulnerability' on it is all you need.
It gives DR-5 against almost any enemy you will meet. At about lvl12 enemies will start bypass it though.
At that level i exchange it for 'axeblockIII'. Slashing is the most common out there, but arguments can be made for 'spearblockIII' as well.
In addition to this DR prefix you can add something like 'lifeshield' which helps survivability.

'Mobility' can be added to boots or a trinket, thereby giving you 2 dodge and usually an extra point of armor or 2 from your dexterity allowance.
This bypasses the need for light armor, you can have your cake and eat it too.

If you are True Neutral (which all my toons are for this reason), you can use 'superior stability' which gives resistance(6) and protection(6) thereby freeing up to 2 inventory slots.
AT lvl12 you can have this and the blue slot on a piece of armor. I use this until lvl20.

Apart from crafted armor there is

Dragonscale and the xoriat armors with 'trace of madness' on them.
Filling the trace of madness upgrade can be very worthwhile. +10 reflex and several guard procs that make enemies helpless can be better then raw AC.

If you are on sarlona i can craft anything for you.

    I hope this helps.

Cannith-crafted Planeforged Plate. easy to get, cheap, can get you thru 4-20 easily and with some good choices in it... In epics, named kick in...

    These are my favoirites:

L8 - Bloodplate Armor I like to put a Heavy Fort augment in the blue slot. Gives you good protection, death bloack and heavy fort.

    L10 - Giantcraft Plate Armor

L14 - Black Dragonplate Armor or White Dragonplate Armor

    L20 - Purple Dragon Knight's Armor

L22 - Embrace of the Spider Queen

And finally at L26 Flawless Shadow Dragonplate Armor I like to put an augment of defence in this blue slot.

Thanks! Looks like there's a lot of good armor to choose from. I think I know which ones I'll get now

Stonemeld Plate from TS works for me until 14, and then it's Dragonscale armor until 20.

If you have the comms and some flexibility on your slots the Purple Dragon turn ins (plate/helm/gloves) work fine in lower epics; if you can't make flawless dragonscale at 25 you can probably stretch it until 27.

The Brutish Cuirass from Blockade Buster is a pretty solid piece of kit that grants a small chance of knocking down an enemy on a vorpal.

Beholder Plate has some interesting effects, namely a knockdown guard, an antimagic effect to stop enemy spellcasting on crits plus you can upgrade it for an extra effect such as +10 to 1 save type, displacement guard etc. though this armour is best combined with the sustaining symbiont trinket to supress the negative effects.

At level 20, it's not too hard to get the plate from PDK commendations which can see you through until you get the higher level epic armour, eg. the shadow dragon plate or whatever else you fancy.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Beholder Plate with Solipsism for interrupting spellcasters (common drop). And/or White/Black Dragonplate (buy 20 scales on AH).

@20 - Epic Ringleader (easy epics) or Purple Dragon (from comms).

@22 - Embrace of the Spider Queen (from AH)

Rest not really worth the effort, IMO, if you want some easy-access armor to fill the gap.

    I like this http://ddowiki.com/page/Brutish_Cuirass

The knockdown on a 20 is fun, and it has DR 3/-

It's also not ugly, and easy to farm.

Brutish is wash. FP of Giants is better and lower ML.
