Does anyone use the Average Khyber Dragonshard 30hd version of this spell?
Are Average Khyber Shards actually of any use?

For Heroic Questing Trap The Soul is one of those powerful spells (limited by resources available) and the only defense is Spell Resistance. It is especially good at taking out mini-bosses.
Epic levels the 30 HD (Its current max) limits this to lower Epics and even there only in the games settings lower difficulties Epic Hard content would be pushing it but for EN and EC it is still a usable option.
I know others have asked Turbine to look at possibly making this spell Epic Worthy.
Since I'm commonly running in the upper Epic levels and with groups doing Epic Hard to Epic Elite, I've had to remove this spell from my rotation as I have nothing to use it against.
I think its worth it for Cannith Crafting bane weapons. Hopefully even more worth it after the revamp.
I mostly use Trap the Soul 20HD version for the Essence of Earth gems and the Adamantine Ritual (yeah yeah, whatever, I like having my gear last longer before needing to repair. Force rituals don't work on all weapons, and the AC and Save rituals are only good for 1 item each, leaving a lot of other gear good for adamantine). I do wish that it would add hardness past ritual level 1 though.
I am hoping that the Cannith Crafting revamp will bring greater use to the other gems and version of this spell, and a version appropriate for epic content would also be a dream come true. Here's hoping it doesn't stay just a dream.![]()
Nice to know people use Trap the Soul but that wasn't the question.
I'm just wondering whether it's worth crunching down Small Khybers into Average Khybers and sticking em on AH atm?
And if not - When are we {everyone who's not a Caster} gonna get something to do with Khybers once they're crunched down?
Heck Casters can buy them from Vendors anyway so AH prices would be pretty low but it's better than just having them continue to stack up in my Crafter's ing bag.
Most people I know who use the Trap the Soul effect don't use components.
They use things like the Epic Souleater staff, or a greensteel weapon that casts TTS. In both cases, you get the filled soul gem without having to have the shards on hand.
So, I would agree with the others who say "No".
I crunch them every now and then and store them in my bags...because. Because no actual reason, but you never know when something will be made useful. If that doesn't appeal then just vendor them. I think they're worth a little plat,
