Happened to me solo. Finished fight and thought, "gee I will run back and use the shrine", and blamo! Stepped thru the west door right into a pile of baddies that weren't there before.

Needless to say I ran screaming as fast as I could towards the shrine and luckily died just far enough away to reach it!

EDIT ~ The screaming was in RL since I had no health or mana and was trying to pop pots as fast as I could without getting a smack down from behind as I ran. Enjoyed the rush of it tho.
