Anybody made character transfers recently?

I'm losing faith in a well needed server merge and now I'm contemplating moving on my own to foreign lands, to a more populated server. I've never had to do it on DDO or other games, so I'm wondering if I could get some feedback from fellow players who've done it in the recent past.

How long did it take, did you lose anything, name included, have you moved a single character or more than one, that sort of things.

I moved a toon from server x to server y. It was completed without a hitch 3 days after I made the request (did it on a Friday night). I play a little bit on all servers, but mostly on Sarlona and G-Land. IMO those are the 2 most active servers in terms population and LFMs.

You may wish to explore both before making your switch.

EDIT ~ my toon name wasn't used on the new server, so I did not get a name change.
