I just got a new 'puter and tried to download and install DDO. It was a nightmare. If I had been a new player I would have given up~ now this might just be me, but would be interesting to see how many new signups we got last month say.

Nope its not just you. I too got a new laptop and had trouble getting the game to download properly. It got all the way downloaded to 78% then said it was missing files. So I re downloaded it again and it took on the 2nd attempt. But that was 2 hours of download time on each attempt so 4 hours total.
The issue is not server population (check the who tab) the issue is WAY too much incentive to solo a d run only the hardest difficulty...100% no to server mergers but a resounding yes to creating incentive to group and removing all the solo incentive. (The recent changes are a good start)
