First and only greensteel item?

I'm sure that this kind of thread comes up every now and then, but a search didn't turn up anything useful, so here goes:

I have a character who just finished flagging for Shroud. I also have a fair amount of various Shroud ingredients in my Vault from an older character that I had in the game around the time that Shroud was run a lot. Therefore, I thought that I would try to make a greensteel item for this new character, who is a FvS/Rog/Bard swashbuckler (now lvl 20). I'm not a huge raider, so this is likely to be the only greensteel I make -- a shortsword (preferred weapon) would be an obvious choice, but I have seen other recommendations over the years for things like Goggles etc.

Should I just go with the weapon choice -- or is some other kind of gear better, if this is likely to be the only greensteel item?

Depends on what your other gear is. My first priority with any character is a +45 hit point & smoke item (perma blur + displacement clicky).

Hi,

The smoke HP item is a really solid choice, I agree. Make sure you think carefully about which slot to put it in, taking into account gear you might want to wear at higher levels.

The problem with weapons is you will outgrow them pretty quickly, unless you are planning to do a lot of TRing and can reuse them life after life.

For comedy value, very little beats an ooze weapon, but that may be something to make once you don't need anything else.
