Question Cosmetic transformation with Mirror of glamering

I have wondered about couple things for what I need answer so I won´t waste turbine points with testing. So lets got to first one: if I make that sun elf starter armor into a cosmetic armor, can I wear it with any race except constructs? Second one: if I make a cosmetic weapon of that epic 3BC torch weapon into cosmetic weapon, can I use it with orbs or shields?

From the wiki: The weapon cosmetic is only displayed on your character when you are wielding a weapon with the same combat style. The current combat styles are one-handed, two-handed, quarterstaff, great axe, crossbow, repeating crossbow, bow, rune arm, orb, and shield-only.

Not sure about your first question, you get a cosmetic version of that armor anyway when creating an iconic, don't you?

Yes, but the cosmetic armor is also "Sun Elf only". Additionally, if you TR into an iconic you do not get the cosmetic armor.

That said, I've never used one of those mirrors, so I'm not sure how they work. You could probably use one on the armor, but the resulting cosmetic item might or might not fit/display properly on other races.

    DDO Wiki correctly states:

    • Racial restrictions of the original item apply also for its cosmetic copy.

This is because generally speaking, most race-restricted armor technically doesn't exist for other races. There's no Half Orc, Halfing, or even Elf version of the Morninglord armor, which is specifically created for the Sun Elf model. (With some work we could add other versions, but that's generally considered lower priority than just getting new art for armor or weapons in general that everyone can wear and isn't tied to iconics. We wouldn't really want to do it without doing all other races except docent-wearers, which would require a significant amount of time.)

Ah ok then. Thanks for the reply

You see I had an idea to create the look of a warpriest from Warhammer series so it would´ve been that sun elf armor, warhammer on one hand and that Haunted halls orb tome on the other hand. That torch I would´ve used for making the look of that adventurer on the Shadowfell Conspiracy art, which is on the loadscreens sometimes. Reason why torch over the orb is that I rather light my way with torch rather than extinguish it by smashing mobs with it (if you imagine it to be realistic).

Instead of doing new art for armor would you please either A) Bring back the old cosmetic armors kits or B) Have something similar to a jeweler's toolkit so that the old cosmetics armors kits be removed and applied to new armors?

Oh. Um. I'm pretty sure drow can wear morninglord stuff and half orcs can wear purple dragon stuff. Not meaning to imply anything...but I'm pretty white drow sure that toothless half orc their armor would fit those races. I've been wrong before though.

I hope I'm not talking nonsense, but I'm pretty certain I had the cosmetic sunelf armor when I TRed my toon into a sunelf. But then I didn't like that cosmetic so it ended up in my bank and I have no idea if it's in my TR cache now or not

I also wasn't aware of the race restriction of the iconic cosmetics. That's good to know.

If I remember correctly the collector's edition Shadar-Kai purple set was supposed to be for all races up until the last minute where you all changed your minds. Now we can't even use it on the human model.

I didn't get a cosmetic armor when I TR'd into a PDK. Was a little miffed about it.
