    Default Gear Purge Questions

It's been a while since I've been in game (2-3 years?). Based on how much the game has changed, and what a few people have said about augment slots, etc., I'm thinking that I should get rid of a lot of old stuff. Plus it seems like named items have taken over the game. So I have a few questions...

    1. Are "Guild Augment" slots any good? I have a bunch of craftable gear with medium and large guild slots.
    2. Are clean items still useful? I have a ton of lv15 +15 Disable/Search/etc. and lv 13 +15 race restricted gear.
    3. Low level twink gear still useful? +1 shock weapons, straight up blindness immunity, feather falling, etc... keep them, or are the low level quests pretty good about giving you everything you need?
    4. Flametouched Iron/Mithril/Cold Iron/etc. Used in crafting? Still useful?
    5. Vorpal/Banishing/etc?
    6. Named items. Someone said all named items have augment slots now and I should probably plan on refreshing most of them. Any particular named items I should hold onto?

What is still useful? i.e. what should I definitely hold onto if I have it?

    Thanks!

Everything you have is still useful, I wouldn't go clearing out your stash right now.

Now what you can do is as you find "better" versions of your gear you can clean out the older versions.

But there is another aspect to keep in mind. Many named items that received augments are no longer unbound or bound to account but are now Bound to Character on Equip. Some also have new Minimum levels some have raised a level or two with the augment(s).

    1. guild augment items often don't stack with the new guild airship buffs. but they can sell well occasionally
    2. +15 skill items are nice and no longer drop before epics (+13 is now the cap in heroics)
    3. Vendor everything that can be cannith crafted.
    4. Flametouched is ok. Mithril shields are useful. Mithril armor not so much, except perhaps for cosmetic copying via mirror of glamering (some are nice). Darkleaf Banded Mail is a non-metallic medium armor that druids can use. Cold Iron/Silver is occasionally useful, ideally with red slot.
    5. I am not a fan.
    6. Usually new is better. Sometimes the old is lower level (and unbound), e.g. Silver Longbow.

I looked on the wiki but didn't see anything; could just be bad search fu. Is there a list somewhere of what items have been updated and changed? (such as Silver Longbow)

    Post Inventory Management Fun!

1.) In regards to your guild augment items, I had a lot of medium guild augment ones, but ever since they put in the new guild buffs, I don't bother using them anymore.

I primarily used them for hp and spell points. Depending what your guild level is, you can get +20 guild bonus hp from a lvl 45 guild amenity, which is equivalent to a large guild augment one. The spell points one is worthwhile -- +25 guild spell points bonus from a lvl 28 guild amenity vs. 60 or 120 spell points from a large guild augment.

For the skill augments, the guild amenities give at most +3 (and the max value can be attained at relatively low guild levels), while the large guild augment crystals give +4.

2.) Your clean items are still useful, and I think they're still hard to find, but are less useful now. Racial restrictions on items have disappeared. Also, from power creep, you can find some pretty good heroic named items that have +13 and +15, i.e. http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Bracers...%28Level_16%29.

3.) Clickies can still be useful. There's a ton of item modifiers that don't drop anymore (ie buttressing), and clickies only drop in certain quests as turn-in rewards (ie 3BC). Can't really say a general statement if you should trash or keep. Need to get specific.

4.) In regards to the different types of metallic weapons - if you want to use them, I'd recommend trashing them and replace with its equivalent that has red augment slots. For instance, you can get a silver <weapon> that has a red augment, with minimum level 2. So now you can craft a weapon that has silver bypass and stick in a ruby of good to get another DR bypass. You can also find an empty augment on it, with ML 1. I usually find them at the weapons vendor at Eveningstar.

I gathered a bunch of metallic weapons with red augments, but I don't really use them anymore. You can do significantly more damage now than 2 years ago, so the DR breakers aren't as useful anymore. Still useful, however, in certain situations for certain mobs that have very high DR.

5.) For vorpal/banishing etc. weapons, I think they're still useful in heroic levels. If you plan to stick around for another year or so, and if they don't change the Risia ice games, you can apply a festival icy burst kit on those weapons and it'll lower the ML. I keep a stack of them (mostly keen ones) just for that occasion. I have a +2 masterful vorpal longbow of deception? or something that is 2[W] and it's level 12.

6.) Upgrade your named items. I think almost every named item has been upgraded in a good way, so you probably won't find a list of what's been changed on the wiki. One notable exception is that Minos Legen has not changed.
