Default Past Life: Disciple of the Fist

I always supposed 3.5[1d6] was maximum, but does THIS [You recall more about your past life as a monk. You have +2 to your Concentration skill, deal increased unarmed damage (one step higher than normal on the unarmed combat chart)...]
on a pure Monk LVL20 gets me from 3.5[1d6] through the Roof to 4,0[1d6] or IS 3.5[1d6] the Limit?

    Thx

From my experience, increases the max to 4.0 xd6 (or d8), just like any other source of unarmed damage works.

This feat and others (like Imp Martial Arts) all stack. The only ones that don't stack are the Reinforced Fists equipment which only works once.

I'm doing 10.25[d8] on my 20 unarmed monk with TF handwraps, ship buffs and deadly weapons from a friendly arti. I'm typically getting ~140ish per hit with crits up in low 500-600s.

I don't think there is any maximum for any +[W] bonuses for anyone.

    Hi Kodwraith,
that´s the Thing i wasn´t sure about. Is unarmed damage at base 3,5xW6 the cap for a pure 20 (enhancements /gear etc aside, i know all that stuff is stacking with feats etc.) or can it be 4,0xW6 (plus all the stacking stuff and W8) by PL-Feat: DotF.
If it does like you say, i´ll be going for it. Thx!

Kodwraith has d8 fists due to the Empty handed mastery tier 5 enhancement in the shintao tree.

Past life : Disciple of the fist stacks with everything currently in the game, and will increase your damage by 0.5[w]. This means if you do 10.5[d6] without the feat, the pastlife feat will boost you to 11[d6].

The pastllife feat will not boost you from 10.5[d6] to 10.5[d8] (It used to back before we had the current system of +x[W], but not anymore)

If there is a cap on how high your +x[d6] (or [d8] if you have empty handed mastery) can be, it's not currently possible to reach that cap in game.

Munkenmo is correct. Without the T5 shintao Empty Hand enhancement, I do 10.25[d6] unarmed.

The 10.25 dice of dmg is from 20 monk + Power attack + TF handwraps + Dance of Flowers + Ship buff + Improved Martial Arts. I may have missed some. If I was a 16 monk, I'd only be down a half die to 9.75[d8]. Basically it adds up all the buffs to +W. When a friendly Arti hits me with deadly weapons, I do 11.25[d8]. If I put on somethign with Reinforced fists, I do 10.75[d8]. If I'm doing it while a friendly arti is nearby, I do

So far I haven't found any of the +W unarmed damage buff that don't stack.

Basically the old system where damage buffs to unarmed damage gave you bigger dice have now mostly all been converted to more dice instead. As far as I know all the old monk bonuses that used to increase the "unarmed die step size" were only Reinforced fists and the active past life (monk) now increase the number of dice instead.

The only buff that actually increases the "size" of the die is the T5 shintao enhancement. d6 -> d8. Maybe we'll finally get a decent capstone that takes it to d10 or gives us wisdom to dmg or something.

FWIW I had DotF but gave it up for Dodge / mobility / spring attack. I've also toyed with unarmed henshin but keep coming back to T5 shintao as the least bad option. Until henshin gets +30% staff speed, you simply can't play a stick monk seriously. Pure == unarmed.

You can still most definitely play a pure monk in EE, you just need powerful friends and no, you're not goign to be as uber as the paladin standing next to you. Kodraith is a 2nd life pure monk with decent tomes and gear running around in Earth stance. I get killed alot in EE but I run through everything solo in EH and didnt burn that many cakes.

Frankly monks have been seriously out power creeped by pally and barbs and SWF bards of all things.
