    Default Toon is bugged: cannot see other players/hire hp/sp bars

    This happened three days ago - all of a sudden I could no longer see other players hp/sp bars... BIG issue: Can't see who is in party, can't promote, can't invite to airship, if someone dc's for a while, cannot see them to dismiss them, can't promote others so they can do it either. This is a real problem... and Turbine either can't or won't help: I submitted an in-game support ticket, and here's the response I got as soon as the GM saw the issue - insta-resolve:

    "In order to provide the best resolution to your issue, you will need to contact our Technical Support department. That team is better equipped to handle your inquiry, as the In-Game Support team does not have access to the necessary information. To contact Technical Support, please visit support.turbine.com . Click on the “Support Center” tab and then select “Submit a Ticket”. While filling out the ticket submission form, select DDO as your game, and “Tech Support” as your Support Team."

    After I submitted the ticket to support as required by the original NON-CUSTOMER SERVICE person, here's the response I got:

    Thank you for contacting Turbine In-Game Support. This automated email has been sent to let you know that we have received your support request and to also forward some relevant information based on the support request details you selected:

    We apologize, but we are only able to review and investigate with specific game play questions or issues when tickets are submitted through the ticket system within the game. To submit a Help request while logged into the game, please follow these directions:
    - Open the Help Menu by clicking on the “Esc” button.
    - Click the “New Ticket” button.*
    - Select the most appropriate types and explain your inquiry or issue.

    Your inquiry will then be reviewed by a GM, who will chat with you. (Please note that if you log out, the GM will not be able to chat.)

    * Please note that if there is no “New Ticket” button on the Help Menu then your account is not currently eligible for In-Game support. You may obtain eligibility by becoming a VIP member or purchasing Turbine Points. If your account is not eligible, you may request advice from other players in the general chat channels or on the forums. You may also submit a Bug Report to provide feedback about a specific location that may cause players to be stuck; please note that Bug Reports are not a request for immediate assistance or support and will not receive a response.

    As we cannot assist with specific game play questions or issues submitted from support.turbine.com, this ticket will be closed without further response. If you have other questions, please submit a new web inquiry to the appropriate department by visiting support.turbine.com.

    Thank you,
    The Turbine In-Game Support Team

    Obviously, customer no-service is alive and well at Turbine... has anyone on the forums ever seen this issue and what if any resolution can you give me... this is a fourth life toon, and I'd rather not trash it if I don't have to... UI settings suggestions are not in order, since this is the only one of 20 toons with this issue.

    Well, I haven't checked out the tech support forums in a long time... BUT... If you look up - above the "Reply To Thread" button:
    "Known Issue: Black Screen With Visible UI: Some Intel users may find that when DirectX 10 is enabled, only their UI is visible and the rest of their screen is black. If this occurs, we recommend you disable DX10, enable DX9, and restart the game client."

    Is that it?

    Technically speaking it would be nice to know exactly what's happening, and possibly a screenshot? System specs.

    Just as an update, I reinstalled DDO (twice since first time didn't work) using DirectX9 only, same issue still.

    Doubt if screenshot would be useful, since it would just appear like I wasn't in a group.

    It is very possible that the Party UI element is [u]behind[/b] another element on your screen.

    Options to try...

    Enter any quest and summon a hireling so you can make sure you have a party - Quest does not matter just so you can be grouped.

    1) collapse all of your hotbars into their beginning single stack
    2) Move all of your chat windows to see if the Party UI is behind them

    If this does not resolve the issue, try...
    1) logging into a character that does not have this issue
    2) in a chat box type the following: /ui layout save {name here}
    3) log into the character that has the issue
    4) in a chat box type the following: /ui layour load {Same name used in step 2}

    Let us know if this resolves the issue.

    Keep in mind the in game GMs can only resolve an issue if there is a fix to it, otherwise they have to direct you to submitting a bug ticket. Personally I'm surprised they didn't have you reset your entire UI layout or give you the steps above for the second option.

    Thanks very much.... copying the layout from a different toon resolved the issue immediately.
