eSoS Shard Dropped This Morning

Ran an EE VON 5/6 a guildy put up this morning. The eSoS shard dropped for one of our party members. While it would have been nicer if I'd pulled it (I am always looking for my second shard, heh heh), I am glad to see it's still dropping. Congrats to our fellow raider!

What is a SoS shard?...

SoS Shard drops on Eldorado quest in the Shangri-La chain after beating red named Big Foot. Only on EI. Epic Impossible.

SS would be blurred and noisy, just like every cryptoid and UFO sighting.


5 years, 2 SoS, 4 seals and 8 scrolls later, I have never seen a shard drop.

What is a SoS shard?...

I'm guessing Sword of Shadow epic upgrade shard.

Epic Sword of Shadow is probably the best two-handed sword in the game: +10 enhancement bonus, adamantine, falchion crit range, greataxe multiplier, 2.5[2d6] base damage, and two augment slots. And its ML is only 20.

Oh ****, your luck sucks! I've seen a SoS shard in every 3 of my recent EE von runs. The most recent being yesterday and one before was like a week ago.

I guess im just lucky, got my esos shard on my 16th or so eVon in thelanis. That was a few months ago and sadly its still dusting in bank. Hopefully ill stay at 20+ this life to use it a bit.


Edit* Btw it was the very first time i saw one droop and was under my name.
Now with over 100 eVons still havent seen a single helm or red shard droop for anyone in the party.

Considering it's ml20 and the only weapons that beat it are ml28 and they only beat it situationally (Mortal fear, bleeding damage on crit, and fire vulnerable).

To my mind it's still the best THF weapon in the game on the right build, right there with some of the things you can do with staffs. That doesn't mean it's absolute best DPS with a calculator or Bruntsmash video, just that it's arguably the best compromise between ML and DPS.
