I would love little class-related areas for all the different classes a'la portable hole.

For example, I'd love a little hidden entrance somewhere in House P that's locked, with a tunnel that's trapped, that leads to an underground bar just for rogue type things.

In one of the wildernesses you could have an entrance to a natural beautiful elvish inspired hangout for rangers and druids.

Jeez... bards need their own public-facing theatre with a backstage just for them.

    :sigh:

p.s. i'm totally for monks having a peaceful and tranquil area for meditation.

That's a funny image. I could see the Bard's hangout as filled with beatnik music and smoke of questionable source but of welcome, mind-opening effect.

The Rangers and Druids hangout would have to avoid going all Lothlorien, though.

Rogues already have the Free Agent vendor, working out in the open. If House P needed spy-stuff, it would have to be different than what the FA already offers.

And hey! You're totally bogarting the monkspace. Most heinous.

Yeah, you know what... that is totally bogus having that stuff and that trap-making machine out in the public harbor. I'd move that stuff into the rogue area in a heartbeat.

Interesting, but the wrong world. It's on Greyhawk, not Faerun or Eberron.

Doesn't matter really, 'cause all Monks know kung-fu and will look like Shaolin fighters, even we they aren't (as in making beer).

Good idea: maybe Adapt some classes like Shugenjas, shaman or samuraii

The Restless Isles is an Oriental (non-politically correct term) themed area in DDO.

I think there is a realistic chance this kind of area could be included in DDO but it wouldn't be a public area. Instead, monk-themed player housing could incorporate a personal or even guild dojo into the game. We may get to see player housing in 2016, which could offer different class and race themed areas.

I think 'flavor' additions to the game, like those proposed here, would be great.

The drawback is much like guild ships. The new ships are nice and the buffs great - and you can 1 click them for convenience. But in the name of conveneince, after you run throught he ship once, how often do you truly go back and "enjoy" the content? In our guild everyone goes to the cargo or deck where the AH, Tavern and mailbox are located. No sight-seeing.

What set an area like the portable hole apart was uniqueness + convenience + utility. Not too big. Hall of Heroes, ithink, tried to be some of what is proposed in here but it really has missed the mark up to now. Even with its recent changes it is not "easy enough" or "convenient enough" for players to justify the expense. So, for a new area, along the line of what you describe, it is hard to envision it being used *if* it does not have uniqueness + convenience + utility.

Once upon a time you had to go to different trainers depending on your level. If we still had that and we could have a themed area where all the trainers are located, that would meet the mix I am talking about. However, given you can raise up any level at any trainer now, that element is lost.

I suggested in PC14, for example, that the devs make buffs from places like House P, House J, Amarath available in the HoH. Needless to say, that didn't happen - at least not yet.

Yeah but the temple of evil is greyhawk and it is set on greyhawk even though that's all the greyhawk we get for now.

Of course, The Destroyer appeared in 1971, and was actually written in 1963. And TAB is a terrible adaptation.

Doesn't matter if you are a fan of only the Suel supremacist Nazis monks. Doesn't change the class origins or inspirations.

Place a monastery on one isle of the Restless Isles.

While you're at it, add some flavor to the Church of the Soveriegn Host in House D.

Not to derail the OP, but yeah, many factions could use a little more cowbell. The Host is one of them, and given that you can get some help in Paladin and Cleric trees through that, it would make a little more sense.

But back on topic, a special "meditation" teleport to and from a Restless Isle area would be just as needed for getting to a restored Garden dojo.

Great point--I think the difference would be having the special vendor at the end of the mario-obstacle course. There would be more reason to go there.

I would be fine if some of the ninja stuff in the guild ships was aesthetically reused--cut&pasted in the proposed space.
