    Default Looking for Advice: Rogue/Monk Build.

    Hello everyone.

    Recently, I came back to DDO after almost 2 years without playing it, got my main toon to lvl 20, and decided to TR it so I could enjoy the game from beggining again. For that, I was lookig around, searching for a possible rogue/monk build, but or I am blind, or all the related stuff is a bit old. So, I hope you can help me with this.

    1st, my toon have a 36 point build, and it have a Rogue, Fighter and Monk past lifes;
    2nd, I have a +4 Tome in all Ability Scores;
    3rd, I already mastered all levels of GMoF and US, and just started LD epic destiny;
    4th, I don't have the Harper's Enhancement Tree, but I can afford it, it extremelly necessary;
    5th, I don't have access to HOrc or WF races.

    My main objective is to be a competent Rogue (not the best one, but a decent one), enhancing poison damage with Ninja Spy enhancements, maybe using Flash Bomb to get some extra Sneak Attacks; my favorite class is Monk (I played almost every class already, in the past), and I like Rogues a lot too, but they allways felt a bit squish to me, specially because I mainly play alone.
    So I am seeking a build in wich I can spot and disable some traps, but that won't need a hireleing babysitting me all the time (I was playing as a pure monk this life, with APs heavily in Shintao, but with some stuff in Ninja Spy and in the HElf tree, for dilly enhancements, and the game was piece of cake untill lvl 18 quests - and after that, not so difficult).

    I have lots of stuff in my TR Cache, like Tharne's Set, Chronoscope Set, Vampiric Stonedust Wraps, ToD rings, Grave Wrappings, Spider Spun Caparison, Seal of House Dunrobar, etc... but nothing really powerfull or eppic, but enought to get me to lvl 20 and beyond, without worring too much about equipment. I am able to craft any bound shard of crafting lvl 70 or lower, so I can make some holy/lesser vampiric stuff too.

    That said, maybe any of the "DDO Build Gurus" can give me some advice, please? I would appreciate it very much =)

    You can do just 1 level of rogue and get all the traps & stuff
    If you want to go up one of the enhancement trees, how far, that will determine the minimum rogue levels needed.

    Then the questions I would ask
    What weapons do you want to use? melee - what kind, or ranged or both?
    Play length, got to 20 & TR again or go to 28 & ETR and or TR, get to 28 and stay there?
    Play style - do you want to smash a bunch of different buttons or only a couple?
    Willing to splash a 3rd class?
    Thoughts on main stat for damage - depending on weapon, play, classes, races, desires, other things .... though this is more variable

    check out my build in this post: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post5532429

    I assume you will be spending a lot of time in epics maxing out destinies. This split can work through quite a few by varying feats, stats etc each new Epic Reincarnation. It can be a shortsword stealth build, a wisdom-based stunner with handwraps, a Whirling Steel longsword focus or even a hybrid shuriken/TWF. You could even just do shuriken chucker but it will not have the expanded threat range that halflings would offer or pure monks.

    Default Well

    First of all, thanks for the replies. =)

    Since I was basically playing the "common" monk - pretty much stun and beat them out - I was seeking a build more like Ninja/Assassin with a good disabling capability. I was temptedto go pure rogue, but I don't thing I am a capable player to enter solo an elite quest after level 10 with a pure rogue - I am sure I will be killed pretty easy on the first undead mob I find, and it was because this I was thinking about splashing the character with monk.

    Within this scope, I was thinking about play with rogue as main class, and monk to get more sneak attack dies, poison boosts and flash bomb. That way, I would go with TWF - shortswords, since I could treat them as ki weapons, and would not have to pick weapon finesse feat to go DEX all the way to hit and damage things.

    I know the cons of piercing weapons, but since I have lots of wraps and some metaline/silver/adamantine shortswords with holy, or banishing, or contruct bane, think I could overcome any situation more or less easilly. That said, I would rely heavily on shortswords.

    Answering Theolin's questions:

    1- I would preffer less buttons to press, prefeably no more than 2 full quick bars (slots 1-10); more than that, I forget to use the clicks with longer effects/cooldowns.

    2- Yes, I could take a 3rd class without problem (i junst don't like to play as spellcaster).

    3- My objective is to revisit all the quests from lvl 1-20, since some of them were revamped, and then go epic untill 28, do some epic raids, and see what happens, but probably, I will TR again just when I have another toon on lvl 28.

    4- I use ranged weapons only when it is extremely necessary;

    I started to put a 14 rogue/6 monk build, but the math didnt seemed right for me at a first glance.

    I had a look at the Saekee build and think it is a good starting point, but don't think I would go far with a spellcaster class mixed, since I definitly don't like to play casters and have some prejudice about it... lol

    And one more important thing: since tomes got on sale just today, I ams acquiring and supreme ability upgrade from +4 to +5 with that TP's I had stored.

    10 Rogue, 6 monk, 4 paly

    Something along these lines .... just a quick throw it together ... can be better but gives an idea ... sleepy so probably mistakes
    Use a staff or someother 2HW till level 9 when 2WF kicks in more

    2 ways to go here either for whirlwind or grandmaster of forms so choose feats accordingly rogue 10 monk 6 fighter 4 Feats: in no order: & extras PA, dodge, cleave, Gcleave, impCrit bludg, opportunist cExpertise, wfocus-staff, mobility, whirlwind, or monk 3 forms past adept + something Ehancements: Rouge Acrabat Staff Monk Henshin Staff Fighte Kensi Staff Monk Ninja spy for Veil & sneak attack bonus Rogue Assiasan for sneak attack bonus Fighter Stalwart Defence You could do something similar with a strength build & THF
