    Extreme over reaction.
the WotC response makes perfect sense. NeverWinter is getting a substantial update based on the NEW Elemental Evil releases.

DDO is getting a Module based on the Original.

They are very different things and promoting them together would give people the impression they are based on the same content.

Regardless, WotC has ALWAYS given me the impression that DDO is a red headed stepchild anyway. Never any significant love or promotion.

Its kind of ironic, that they diss the classic temple of elemental evil in favor of their new storyline, because if the new story line was good enough to stand alone on its own they wouldn't need to use the name of a 30 year old classic D&D module created by TSR to prop up their "new storyline".

    Agreed

This is ridiculous - how is this game ever supposed to recover a meaningful population if all attempts at growing the game aren't broadcasted? Even a simple twitter plug is a problem.

Maybe they should increase our vip subscription by a dollar or two, and use that difference to add some **** advertising.

I don't mind adding another 5 bucks a month for this.

Wait, is that a fact? We're getting the classic version not the remake?

I'd be extremely happy if this is the case.

    Side note:

I used the downtime to update NWO and try their new stuff.

Exactly the same as their old stuff but with a new skin on top. Big surprise.

    1) Go to the new area.
    2) Talk to the the three guys who each give you a task in the new "explorer" area. These include and are absolutely limited to: Following the highlighted path to the thing and then click on it, follow the highlighted path to the mob, kill it, then click on the thing it drops, follow the highlighted path to the 3 or 4 minute side-quest, run through it.
    3) Return to the three guys and collect your "coins" or w/e.
    4) Come back tomorrow to do the same thing.
    5) Repeat step 4 a billion times
    6) Unlock next area
    7) Goto step 1 and repeat the whole process two more times.
    8) Finally unlock an ultimately disappointing multi-player quest.

Why is this the model that all the game companies seem to like and copy?
    It sucks.

IMO, I didn't see it as an insult, but I think they could have made a second post about ddo.

I wish WotC would remember DDO more often, but... oh, well.

The featured board game detailed in the WotC announcement is the Temple of Elemental Evil. DDO's update includes the Temple of Elemental Evil. I am having trouble understanding why some DDO players are apologizists for WotC's obvious exclusion of DDO. Perhaps they don't want to mention both MMOs in the same exact piece, so have another piece that is basically the same but mentioning DDO in place of NWO.

Try searching the WoTC site for "ddo" or "dungeons and dragons online". The most I could come up with was 3 links. 1 was the the product overview the other 2 of were just part of a timeline of d&d related releases.

Search for "neverwinter mmo" and you get 21 results, basically they get an announcement every time they release an update.
Perhaps NWO has a better agreement with WotC which includes more promotion by WotC. However, keeping up interest in D&D in general should be something WotC is interested in. Even if NWO has a better agreement WotC should mention DDO more than they do.

I did however notice this on Dungeons & Dragons: D&D Official Homepage, dndwizards.com,
