Default Risia Blue Coin Farming in Zawabi's Revenge: Observations

Update (see pic below): Thanks to Gergy and Tscheuss who posted below: for characters with strong ranged power, the lava area below Lalait in final raid fight features rapidly respawning efreeti and fire elementals. Otherwise, the fire elementals in the final entrance corrisor respawn at a rate of about 30 seconds which gives a roughly average rate of 5 blue coins per minute (45 sec for 4 coins giving 15 sec to slay elementals). I just checked this 1/23/2016--the easiest difficulty is to run this Heroic Elite. Anything lower (HN or HH) will not guarantee a coin drop each time an elemental is killed. NOTE: bring evasion, fire resist and shield/nightshield spell for hard-hitting efreeti magic missiles.

Another option is to farm the coins in the corridor if you are a pure melee without any ability to make a temporary ranged power option (an epic character can do this through destinies and twists, though).

I farmed blue coins by killing the various fire beings in the entrance corridor and then exiting. This includes
    1. Several efreeti
    2. Mephits
    3. Fire elementals

What I found, rather interestingly, is that on heroic settings, the mephits do not drop blue coins; whereas on epic settings they do.
Conversely, on epic settings, the fire elementals only drop white coins, whereas on heroic settings they drop blue coins.
I did not expect this. I assumed that the highest epic settings (epic elite) would have everything dropping a blue coin. This is not the case.

On heroic normal, the weakest setting, sometimes nothing dropped.

My conclusion is that there are three efficient ways to farm blue coins in Zawabi's Revenge entrance corridor:
    1. Heroic hard/elite: bash through corridor, then stay towards end and kill the elementals as they respawn. Eventually, the efreeti will respawn but the gates will close. If you have DDoor, you could return to the entrance and kill through them all again.
    2. Heroic hard/elite: bash through corridor, kill everything, reset. This has the advantage that the one collectable resets for collectable farming.
    3. Epic normal: bash through corridor, kill mephits and efreeti; stop after killing last efreeti, reset.

It is noteworthy that resetting places you by the Desert Caravan quest entrance, so you must run back up the hill. If you are able to DDoor out, you can exit and be very close to Zawabi for faster resets and reentrances.

I did not encounter any champions at any point of my testing, so unfortunately there is no double farming here.

FYI obviously do not kill Lalait or you must reflag with ADQ.

In a short time I had easily 150 blue coins. This does not generate the superior purple coins, but it is fast.

I am aware that there are locations that one can use to reach various coin types in the harbor. Those places are generally not WAI whereas killing fire creatures is in the spirit of the festival (hence my suggestions above are not an exploit).

Edit: did you test run "taming the flames"? would like to know how it holds up against this thanks

hi RD2play, thx for the response! lol I forgot about raids and champs!

I will check Taming the Flames later. I assume that it would just drop white coins since the ellies there are not red named. The blue coin drops in ZR are from all the red-named mobs. Interestingly, in the epic level of ZR, the red named fire ellies become normal.

Great suggestion gergy! I will test it after the xp weekend bonus--I imagine that if it works, it would be effective in heroic hard or elite

I ran Taming the Flames last year and this year. Tried all settings (N/H/E) a couple-three times each and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I average 30 white coins per run, and sometimes a single blue coin. This is about 15 minutes using an iconic or otherwise over-level toon.

I have been farming Taming the Flames, and I only get white coins on all difficulties. Fire eles respawn indefinitely, so the farm can last as long as you can stand it. Not every kill yields a coin, though. Added benefits are the MM kills and the collectibles.

Oh, yeah. I'm running with epic character.

Thank you both for this info. This saves me a trip to Saving the Flames.

I feel like white coins are not worth farming, especially when the blue ones are so easily obtained. I've gotten good at the jump for the purple but plan to do more after the weekend xp bonus. Also I wanted to check the fire area of Lailat as per above.

Calling the mast not WAI and an exploit? Maybe the harbor tavern last year, but that was fixed. The mast has been around forever and requires more skill than the ice jumps i'd say to not completely miss it.

Not sure what to say. I agree it has been there and has not been corrected. I have tried it but can't seem to get it. I also bought three icy kits (since the blue coins do not generate recipe 5) from someone that was probably doing it.

But it is not featured in the official Risia writeup, like: 'Attempt to vault from the mast of Harbor Ship X to grab that irresistible Purple Coin!'.

Anyway, the Zawabi's Revenge approach I suggest here generates a LOT of blue coins--i think it is the fastest way to get them. I have added frost to every lootgen weapon in my inventory.

There is one location that is WAI and has 2 white coins.

If you go without skates in the initial ramp and fall straight down, you can get 1 of those white coins. Doing it again will get you the other. Repeat till you have 10 coins and then take the skates. How is this not WAI? (and it certainly gives much more coins than farming fire creatures).

The second location would be the house with the boat on the side. With some jump you can reach a white and blue coin in one go. Don't know how WAI it is, considering there's light gravity just above the house (the harbor jump cannot pass in any way above the house).

So from the initial ramp you can drop down without skates and get 2 whites. Or you can use skates and just fall without jumping which will get you 3 whites. Or you can jump at the end, in which case you can get at most 4 whites or 3 whites and 1 blue. Or you can go left and reach the next ramp to perform the intended jump.

Best option. Lots of blue coins on heroic normal, even.

    For ranged characters, anyway.

Before working Zawabi's Revenge, this is what I used to do. You get way more blues very quickly at Zawabi's.

Yes I have been meaning to check this out. I had epic tr'd and am not at a level to equip the Orcish Privateer Boots with their excellent fire resistance; I am reluctant to dive down there without them.
Anyway the hallway spawns very frequently.

Depends. I'm a level 7 wizard and getting 50 purples (the semi-WAI route. I only skip the jump from the initial ramp to the second*), 200 blues and 300 whites (-100 for the skates) per 100 minutes. How many motes would I be able to get in Zawabi's? (Saying motes because that's the only thing one would want to FARM blue coins for) Rhetorical question: None. How much fun would I have doing it if I could? Rhetorical question: None. (**)

(*) Because this jump is stupid. You get absolutely no coins doing it, need a very high jump, need to switch to feather fall while in the air because light gravity disappears mid-way through and back to no feather fall when approaching the ramp and also need to slide the initial ramp diagonally. I could do it this way, but I would get much less whites (and I wouldn't have a solid time frame where I know that the purple coin will have reappeared - I would need to wait for an arbitrary amount of time doing nothing at the top of the ramp)

(**) I'm a bit tipped off that people want to find out ways to farm everything instead of enjoying the ride... That's why the aggressive response.

Anyway, what I was mostly meaning to respond to was the part where you call the coin gaining in Harbor non-WAI. So I responded with the 2 WAI routes.

Hi Faltout, sounds like you have a very good system. Yes, you get motes in Zawabi's but the purples are obviously better. I will check later if I have a chance and post my rate for blues while checking the lava.
I have some success with the ramps. I'd say half my final jumps send me just over the purple coin (very frustrating).
True--Zawabi's is useless at lower levels. My toon is level 22 right now.

Gergy and Tscheuss are correct--heroic hard rapid respawns in lava. But you must have ranged kill abilities since efreeti and elementals sit and blast you from out on lava.

Faltout, I went back to the corridor where the fire elementals spawn. They respawn every 30 seconds on heroic hard. Figure 15ish seconds to kill all four, so you get 4 in 45 sec or about 5/minute. So for comparison, 100 minutes would generate 500 blue coins.

Default Ranging them in the pit below Lalait is the BEST

You need some ranged weapon, fire resist, evasion and some way to block magic missiles (easy enough--scroll, nightshield, shield, etc.). Run on Heroic Elite and fire away! I amassed nearly 300 blue coins in a short while. They spawn quickly:
