Not that long ago, the server used to have multiple Shrouds a day with a few Master Arti/Lord of Blades on the weekends. Currently it seems like we only run VoN and MoD , with some FoT and CitW thrown in. I have never run ToD (never been flagged either) or either of the Dragon Raids (currently flagged for both).

TOD requires the quests, mats, and then making boots. Running out to get the transport spot is also key. Use to love those regular runs.

I know Friday's and Monday's there are teaching runs of the dragon raids. Usually 5-6pm est

Angry Rudeness from one individual can taint a guild for years...

Not to beat a dead horse, but I too had a bad experience with someone from Over Raided. Back in the early days some tool would not let me in a Shroud run because I couldn't show him a silver/good weapon. I was a Pally, and tried to explain how Holy Sword worked to him to no avail. He then said something about how they were laughing at me in their guild chat. It's funny, I heard some of their leadership came from Khyber just like I did (I was former Black Company & Free Companions) when Orien opened for business, but this rudeness from one individual left a taint..

Could be one bad apple spoiled my feelings for their guild, and I realize I shouldn't let one incident lead to such a judgement on their entire guild (actually there where a few more incidents in the rudeness factor), but that's just it...you need to police your guilds. One a-hat can destroy the reputation of your guild for years.

As for guild merging, Forlorn Hope would be all for it...so long as we keep the name. Anyone who knows what Forlorn Hope means or has read/watched the Shape's Rifles series can understand why. But I think this is the reason why guild mergers won't happen much...people love their own guild names for their own reasons.

Lastly, since I don't post in the forums much any more and since the subject is somewhat related, a shoutout to the Defenders, who let everyone use their highly amenitized airship when most did not have the amenities themselves. They were righteous folk, and I regret their decline in numbers.

A couple of friends of mine that joined the guild has straight up told me "I enjoy being an a-hole". So, I think a few ppl actually liked the rep the guild has had.

I felt like keeping quiet and play but since the servers are down and I am raging I'm gonna troll this thread a little.
Let me take off some grease off my fingers from the good popcorn I just fed myself with while reading this thread.
I'm quite happy things don't seem to have changed much on Orien.
This seems to be a classic thread just the way I used to like them.

Every thread or action to make the server more accessible to various types of players is good for the global well being of the server.
Thank you for starting this thread. Hope as time goes by, people have more and more good insights as to how to try and have a better gaming experience.

However, I can't resist putting my pirate hat on and tell the paladin who was rejected from Shroud, because the raid leader didn't want him and his tiny holy sword, that this topic has been addressed in many threads before over the years when people define elitists players and that everyone have a reason for not allowing someone into a raid.
From the elitist point of view, I prefer to say competitive players, a paladin with a tiny tiny holy sword was not considered good dps compared to other classes.
Some people log in the game to have fun, try new Picasso builds, be more casual and light headed etc. Others log in to be ultra competitive, ultra-efficient and that's what they call fun.
I myself suffered from the romantic ideal of the paladin being a savior in ddo & I've done epic VONs where I've seen paladins run straight to the right of Velah and shield block all the fight while a few feet to the left the whole party was sweating and attacking like crazy. The raid leader kept on telling him to join the fight and he would just keep on hiding behind a tower shield.
I admit that during the raid I was chuckling/laughing so much at the paladin imagining he was a little kid overwhelmed and ****ing his pants seeing Velah for the first time that he paralyzed.
(Or maybe he was so desperate from being one-shoted in pvp that when he saw the dragon he told himself why even try...)
It felt good to spontaneously laugh that much that i almost spilled my drink on my keyboard.
The best way to cure this situation is to grow some balls and to TR into a barbarian...

    Default Would be nice

I'll admit an alliance channel would be beneficial. It would help a lot more in finding players to run quests/raids since lfgs aren't doing the trick and forget about asking in general, most people ignore it.

As to trying to learn the raids, it is a hurdle finding a group willing to slow down and actually explain what's going on and how to do something. Those that do know them well, tend to run within their own guilds, recruit from their own private channels, or short man if they don't find enough from that. Several guilds/players do that.
