Arti/Rgr/Brd // Will this work?

Greetings.

I'm planning to reincarnate my dusty jugg into something new.

I'm thinking about arti aa with xbow and rune arm. Lv split 11art/6rgr/3brd. Will this work? I never play ranged toon, so all suggestion would be nice.

Will it work? Sure: almost any combo can be made to work, at least in heroics.

The better question is: what are you gaining with this split? In particular, what are you expecting from the bard splash? Swashbuckling bonuses don't apply to repeaters, although Doubleshot action boost certainly does. Were you planning to add in some SWF melee using Cannoneer or something?

Yes, bard is mostly for doubleshot. there's not much options to gain it. This toon won't use SWF, won't use melee at all.
I may considered different class setting, but artificer have to be main class.

It will work, but you should have done 14 ranger(free archery feats,spells(FoM), and evasion), 4 arti 2 bard instead, at least that's what I think.
The real good arti stuff is arti level 15(deadly weapons, BB, and tactical detonation(if you can get DC for it)), and 16, so its harder to multiclass, since you need sniper shot, and slayer arrow.
Also do you have enough dex for IPS, and combat archery?

But yea, as long as you pump adrenaline, its ok. Could be improved by more ranger, than artificer, if you don't mind chugging haste pots, and have couple of damage bypassing repeaters for heroics. Also don't be afraid to use manyshot, and switch to a bow when using the Unbridled Fury Epic Moment. Great burst, and every shot procs (unlike repeaters )

Meh ranger for free feats is overrated as well as managing the buggy active attacks. much more sustainable DPS & survivability in other options.

Not really, he is doing the buggy actives anyway(the bugs do suck, but the adrenaline + active damage is best burst you can get, and they are awesome at heroics too), and free ranger feats, mean free feats for survivability (at least for fleshy characters). I guess arti has better toaster healing, buts that's about it( also no reconstruct unless 15(up to 19) arti. Don't underestimate the DWS sniper healing dot with metamagics (I heal for 80 to 160 per tick without gear(well 160 on crits, and I usually permaslot crit item, since I have a free slot for it), 120 to 300 with items at epic levels, \w all metas). Even if you don't take them, You can just get bunch of toughness feats instead. Also you get evasion. Evasion is tons of survivability, especially with insightful reflexes.

Yes yes Ranger Active shot+Adrenaline is great Big Bite and in between those its a dull nibble waiting for the next. No thanks I'll take sustainable DPS to every single bolt fired over than buggy rubbish. Maybe if they fixed it but, still probably no. Might as well swap to a bow and use manyshot for those big spikes anyway if you want to get the most of them.

Free feats used for Meta magic feats seams like a waste. Toughness instead even bigger waste.

Slotting crit item interesting but, yeah not sure how you have a "free slot for it" your sacrificing something I likely would not.


Evasion is pretty much dead (I'm still using it because, I haven't Bothered to TR) but much more survivability to physical damage and about equal to spell damage comes from using Heavy Armor. Even for traps toss on a shield and ignore.


I'm currently running a BF but, I've done 6 Iconic fleshy Artificer lives never needed healing outside of destiny abilities & the occasional scroll maybe between cool downs for EE. heroics pots at low level & scrolls mid to high level suffice and are free from SP cost.
