Its nice when you flesh to stone a target, while arcane supremacy procs, and BAM! 15-20k on crit depending on how your spellpower is doing.

All this for ~110 spell points.

In the meanwhile Fury of the Wild can produce 4x15k+
so, in my book ruin is good, and only little short of great. Ruin hits around 3,5k on a non crit with my 450 spell power + max + emp. Imo Not worth the mana when i can produce this much dmg with 2-3 average shirady missile for 10th the spellcost.

The thing I like about it is its untyped damage and not direction sensitive.
Yes it is expensive spell point wise, but regardless of your elemental focus, it is a solid fallback spell.
