    Default Morninglord 9Sor/6Pal/5Clr

I have a pure 1st life Fvs that I like and he's recently reached 28. Long term I want to make a Morninglord pure FvS [possibly FvS/Cleric?] with high Evocation and a focus on Light spells.

I'm thinking a Wizard [active] and couple of Sorcerer past lives coupled with stacked Morninglord PLs will benefit him most.

With my as yet unused LR+20 heart I'm thinking to change him to Sorcerer, ER to 20, then TR into the first Morninglord.

This Morninglord is currently planned as 9Sor/5Clr/6Pal with THF melee Greataxe playstyle, relying on Melee DPS from Paladin/Harper/Eldrich Knight, Self Buffing from Sorcerer spells and Self Healing from Cleric and Paladin.

I'll generally stick to solo EN or EH and run with RL friends in guild who support my crazy notions, so no uber-ness for EE required this life.

If anyone has suggestions in improvements on different class distribution [obviously dominant class must be Sorc and I'm not blowing an LR+1 this life] I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for looking.

    Default Personally

    I have a light-based caster that's 17fvs/3clr morninglord.

Just curious; any reason why you'd melee through that life rather than just build a pure casting sorc? Seems to me you can TR a lot more quickly as a pure or near pure sorc than trying to melee.

I agree it would be faster but have another alt going through similar motions to become a Morninglord Pale Master. He'll be going more caster with his sorcerer lives so I'd rather play melee with this character in contrast just to mix it up a bit as I already have good melee gear on him anyway, and I will collect more caster related gear along the way.

Given the constraints (i.e., melee build which acquires ML & sorc PLs), a few comments:
    • EK is a pretty weak DPS tree, unfortunately; perma-Tensers isn't worth the AP cost and everything below it is pretty blah. I've experimented with EK builds and I think 13-15 APs is the sweet spot for a good mix of defensive & offensive perks. That gets you EK cores (EK Cleave, Spellsword), Imp Mage Armor (+10% AC), Imp Shield (+4 AC, +10 PRR), +3% doublestrike, and Arcane Barrier.
    • So my preferred enh spread would be at least 33 APs into KotC, 22 APs into WP, 13 APs into EK, and 6 APs into SD, leaving 6 APs to tweak things. If necessary, you can spend it on ASF reduction: -15% ML (4 APs), -10% EK, add in a -10% ASF blue augment or Arcane Casting DEX item and that cancels out any hvy armor, I think.
    • Personally I would dump WIS for more INT; saves won't be an issue (take FoP if you really care about Will saves) and more skill pts is always a good thing, IMHO.
    • I would skip Extra Turning and consider doing cleric 4 / sorc 10 instead: give up lvl 3 div spells, but gain a lvl 5 sorc spell.

Interesting. I've dabbled with EK myself and I had most success with a Tempest/EK/Trapmonkey [12Rgr/7Wiz/1Rog] and she did much better at level then my 18Rgr/1Ftr/1Rog did at level. As enhancements are fluid and changeable with little concern, I'll certainly give your suggestion a try and compare.

Was only thinking Extra Turning to keep Divine Might up almost permanently [is there much other use for it LOL?], any alternate feat suggestion if I don't take it?

Had considered Cleric4/Sorc10 earlier but, would prefer to keep Cleric 5 for CSW to keep self sufficient and use two of Remove Curse/Blindness/Disease/Prayer as needed whereas I'd only be able to have a use for Break Enhantment or Protection from Elements from the Sorc level 5 spells, both of which whould be weak with only 10 Sorc in Epics.

Agreed, I'll certainly change that. Even if they do nerf divine grace while I'm playing, the 6 Pally should hold saves solid.

    Cheers for the input.

I was planning on Warpriest Div Might, which runs on SPs not TUs. If you go KotC instead, you should still have plenty of TUs w/out Extra Turning. Like I said, FoP is an alternative if you care about Will saves.

Oh I see now. I didn't know Cleric and Pally DM were different that way [never used DM on the FvS either so I didn't realise].

That was one of the changes in the U19 Enhancement overhaul. Helpful for cleric Warpriests, since now Div Might runs off SPs while radiant auras / bursts run off TUs; whereas before all three ran off TU, so they ran out quicker.
