    Default Monk PL build help

Ok so I read the beginner guide for monk and a few other guides but I was hoping someone could help me with a build.

I am going to be getting my 3 Monk PL's before I go back to my last Arty life and I am wondering a few things. I have played toons with monk splashes but only played a pure monk once a long time ago.

I "think" I want a Halfling staff build with at least 2 levels of rogue but maybe 4 levels or more. I have plenty of trapping gear and tomes of skill to make trapping easy plus I always enjoyed this type of build more then handwrap fighting. Two levels gets me +15% attack speed + Quickstrike and the rogue version is better then the monk version. If I go 4 levels I get the AoE trip attack. Halffer also gets me Healing dragonmarks. Halffer also gets dex to dmg with staves I believe.

Any other ideas? I would do a pure monk and handwraps if someone though it would be faster/easier to get to 20. I have +4 tomes on every stat on this guy plus I can make a GS staff for the 3 lives I am gonna get. Any input would be great. A link to a good build would be nice also. Any splashes are fine as long as I get a monk life out of it. And epic levels don't matter as I won't be doing any epic stuff.

    Toons - Ziffin / Hirtz / Mheka / Duskh
Guild - High Lords of Malkier

If I did decide to go handwraps which ones would everyone recommend to get at various lvls?

I've done unarmed and quarterstaff builds.

Unarmed is a lot more DPS IMO even with all the quarterstaff goodies.
And Stunning Fist is the best tactical feat in the game, again IMO only.

Plus you can laugh at Oozes.

    For named wraps there are:

Scortching Wraps from 3BC, lv 4, for general DPS.
Devotion, from Delera's, lv 6, if you light monk heal moves.
Eternal Rest, from catacomes, lv 2, as a vampire DR breaker/ Ghost killer.
Devout Handwraps, Shadow Cryptm lv 8, DR breaker (must be lucky to pull)
Stonedust Handwraps, from Eyes of Stone, lv 10, upgrade to Vampiric. (<--- good wraps)
Adamentine Knuckles, from Cabal or Feast, lv 12, Construct killer.
Thaarak Wraps, from Hound of Xoriat, lv 18 (<--- also nice)

There is some other stuff in there but I usually stick to the Stonedust until the Thaarak are available.

If you can craft then that will often be the best options. Holy of Bleed at low levels etc.

At 20 there are the Grave Wraps and Antipode at 23 then Thunderforge.

You will probably have some Random Loot stuff like Smiting Wraps or things to break specific DRs that you will want to collect.

If you have the Cove gloves, those are nice for some unarmed perks.
If Maybar ever comes back the wraps from there are killer against undead.
If you don't mid tons of grind for a lv 12 weapon, there is alchemical wraps.

Look into the Spare Hand from the challenges. Trapping skills plus a boost for Stunning Fist DC + more.
An item with Reinforced Fists will add a tiny bit to DPS: Garments of Equlibrium form Seigebraker, Prisoner manacles from Army of Shadow, or Arkats cord from Cry and somewhere else i cant remember.
The Garments are nice and about 6 or 7 drop each run, it seems, so it's easy to get.
BONGO FURY - Ghallanda - Thingfish - Wizard, Diuni - Ninja, Gheale - Angel, Dullknife - Tank, Noodlefish - Gimp, Jaquaby - Treacherous and other gimps.

For TR'ing purposes, I'd recommend googling Pastlifenmo, a 9druid/9monk/2fighter is faster to level than a pure monk.

If you really want a more "monk" playstyle, I'd go with 1rogue for full ranks in umd, 6monk to get shadowfade asap. at 8 get 1fighter for hasteboost (bonus feat Improved 2wf), then take the rest of your levels as monk.

Imo handwraps monks are easier to level than quarterstaff builds, do more dps, more durable weapons and stunning fist is hands down the best tactical feat you can use.

As for race, I prefer Human, Access to ddoor, heal amp and damage boost are worth more to me than halfing dragon marks. The Healing Dragon mark can be replaced with heal scrolls at around level 10.
